I love supporting indie devs, and I love atmospheric, slow burn horror. There are too many janky and tedious areas in this game, though, for me to feel compelled to finish it. Also, and maybe english isn't the devs first language, but the writing is really bad and full of typos and grammatical mistakes, which also takes me out of it.

Solid, straightforward old school platforming fun.

I don't shy away from heavy games, and actually really enjoy titles that are able to subtly grapple with tough subjects, like Spiritfarer. This game started out really interesting, but the writing and execution quickly devolved into surface-level emotion tugging, rushed, nonsensical plot developments with a lack of character/relationship building, and, for want of a better description, felt like grief p**n.

I hope they gained a lot of experience and valuable feedback, though, and look forward to how the studio grows in future games!

Well it's free, and good on someone learning how to make a game and following through with it.

That being said, it doesn't do anything new, and is really just poorly stitched together tropes and formulas from other entries in this genre. The graphics and animations are pretty bad, and the dev needs to learn a lot more about Lumen.

Hopefully they can take what they've learned from this and attempt something a little more their own for the next chapter.

It's a really unique and fun puzzle rpg. If you enjoy word games, with some light combat and good writing, this is a good pick.
I've been playing it with a group, which I think adds an additional layer of fun.

I refuse to do repetitive tasks for no reason before having any investment in story or character. Terrible design, not a video game.

I mean, it's really fun when it isn't crashing.

If you can put up with task manager killing the thing every now and then, and you have hardware to run it decently, and you don't spend much time in the towns or around large groups of NPCs, then it's great.

If they can fix that stuff somehow, and I hope they will, then I'll change to a thumbs up.

Modding provides some relief, via some updated DLSS implementations, but only if you have a 4xxx nvidia card, and even then it's still very unstable - albeit you'll get a better frame rate in between crashes.

It's just not anywhere close to being something that should cost money. Could be fun someday, though.

Pacing is too slow for me. Setting and story are not interesting enough for how much it belabors dialogue and investigation segments.

Generic, boring everything you've seen a thousand times before.
