Fun, short, and sweet puzzle platformer! I wouldn't really tag this as a metroidvania, but it's a really polished title with solid mechanics.

We played this game for over 5 hours and still saw new hallucinations. Absolutely amazing. It perfectly captures the fun and excitement of horror. The premise is simple, so it's easy to jump into it. Awesome game for a great price! Incredible value. Thank you for the fun!!

Could be fun, but there is motion blur or framerate locking going on that makes it a smeared mess while moving. If you get headaches with blurry content, or find it annoying to have to choose between moving or reading the screen, then pass until they fix it.

UPDATE POST SOLO BUFF PATCH:
Previously, I had managed to get to a few Nightlords in solo, but couldn't beat them. Dominated them in multiplayer, though.

Since the patch, the extra few levels I've been able to gain, plus the auto-res safety net, has made a huge difference. It's still challenging, for sure, but at least it's actually fun now.

I still think there are major balancing issues, I still want 2-player co-op, and I still hate the complete randomness of the relic system (spent 44,000 murk rolling relics last night and didn't replace any of my currently equipped) and vagueness of modifier descriptions, but for $40 and with the hopes they continue to address concerns and refine it, I think it's worth playing.

Original Review:
With thousands of hours combined, across FromSoft titles over almost 2 decades, I've never felt anything but reverence and love for every game they've given us.

It hurts to type this, but they need to know it - this is not a good game. It feels like a community mod. Even then, saying it feels like a mod actually does disservice to the amazing modding community, because this wouldn't even make it as a free mod.

The formulas and concepts they're trying to apply just aren't working for me. Maybe when I try it with friends, it will magically be better, but I doubt it.

So much promise, with great pixel art and a nice soundtrack, only to mess up at the finish line with poor control decisions/execution.

I can get over the one jump height - at least we can redirect midair. But, having to let your character come to a complete stop before firing while on the ground is horrible. Also, jumping off of ladders often requires multiple presses of jump for some reason before he does it. Movement is generally slow and feels sluggish, especially while climbing. Lastly, activation hit box for ladders, doors, chests, etc. are extremely small, so you often have to adjust your position multiple times to activate things.

I think they should realize that making a high difficulty precision platformer requires equally precise attention to controls, in which case this could be a good game.

I love supporting indie devs, and I love atmospheric, slow burn horror. There are too many janky and tedious areas in this game, though, for me to feel compelled to finish it. Also, and maybe english isn't the devs first language, but the writing is really bad and full of typos and grammatical mistakes, which also takes me out of it.

I don't shy away from heavy games, and actually really enjoy titles that are able to subtly grapple with tough subjects, like Spiritfarer. This game started out really interesting, but the writing and execution quickly devolved into surface-level emotion tugging, rushed, nonsensical plot developments with a lack of character/relationship building, and, for want of a better description, felt like grief p**n.

I hope they gained a lot of experience and valuable feedback, though, and look forward to how the studio grows in future games!
