Ready or Not was an awesome game for a time and I had a good long run playing a gritty and unapologetic tactical shooter, but, no more. I'm doing my part to call out VOID for going back on their vision and censoring the game just to bend the knee to garbage companies like Sony and Microsoft just for console port sales. This isn't even a game I'd recommend playing on controller anyway, oh right. I don't recommend any newcomers buying this anymore. VOID knows good and well they can keep an uncensored PC version, they're just lazy and want to make excuses. So guess what? Take this and shove it in.

UPDATE: For those of you who already have the game and insist on playing it again despite being displeased with Void's ridiculous decisions they made with the game, there exists a mod to play the game back in it's original uncensored form, of course it's at the expense of multiplayer functionality. Sadly, like any other mod you'd have to disable your mods in order to play online again.

Don't get me wrong, I love this game, it's fun, it's challenging, it is still an awesome parkour first-person-slasher. But the reason this review is negative is less about the game and more about one of the companies and my beef with them. On the official Discord server of Ghostrunner I was wrongly banned for "posting a scam link" for linking a harmless news article when discussing a topic I thought was relevant, I have tried to reach out to 505 Games' personnel to talk about this issue more than once and they aren't saying a word to me, so... This is to you, 505: Pound sand. Not buying from you anymore.

This game is getting the second chance at life that it deserves. I honestly think this game deserves more attention than KOF XV at this rate. Of all the Samurai Shodown games this one tops them all, this one has the best controls, the best roster, the best visuals of course, the best feeling combat, absolutely solid game modes, and now, while it's in beta, SNK is giving the game rollback netcode, and people actually want to play it again, including me. SNK is winning a chance at atonement in my eyes, particularly when it comes to this game and the disservice they did it for so long. Definitely get this while it's on sale and rollback is in beta testing.

I cannot recommend this game until they fix matchmaking. Sure, it has Rollback netcode, which is the new standard, but it's not much good when you can't even find a match online in the first place. That aside, I will not say it's a totally bad game, KoF has plenty of cool characters that are fun to play and this is no different, the DLC characters look sweet, the soundtrack to this game is for the most part awesome, there's plenty of characters with neat and sometimes distinct playstyles although the roster is also loaded with a bunch of shoto clones, moreso than Street Fighter, but, without matchmaking, the singleplayer content to this game is pretty barebones, the menu and HUD are bland and kind of ugly, particularly in the choice of color. Arcade mode isn't even a classic arcade mode where you just fight character after character, it's a story mode that's a bit of a drag and ends with a cheap and annoying boss fight. Sure the game has a versus mode as well, but apart from that there's not much going for the game in terms of offline content, especially when, when it comes to the fighting mechanics, yeah, plenty of characters have fun movesets some of them unique and enjoyable, but the "rush combo" mechanic just ruins the game for me, you suddenly have to be very precarious which buttons you press while going at your opponent because hitting the wrong normal button in a combo will spend your meter on a super combo or EX super you didn't even want to do. Seriously, if I want to use my normals, let me use my normals and the exact normals that I want, if I want to use my supers or do one of the super combos, then I'll memorize the input so I can quickly do it. I don't want easy bake normal/super combos, I want to learn good combos with normals and normals in conjunction with specials and probably topped off with a super or EX at my choosing, I will change my review when they fix just those two things: Fix matchmaking, and remove the rush combo mechanic, and I will have a much better time with this game, until then, I spent $44.99 on this on sale and I still feel cheated. You'd be better off playing the classic KoFs until then, however way you please, it's way cheaper anyway.

The ultimate Hot Wheels game, hands down. Everything you loved about playing with Hot Wheels, plus the computer and console games you had growing up, Custom track building? Collecting sweet looking fantasy and realistic cars? Upgrading them to compete with other cars they previously couldn't? Racing them in totally wild high speed tracks? Custom liveries/paint job and decal making? Online racing multiplayer? It has everything.

The single player mode while a bit repetitive in track selection nonetheless can serve a challenge both for kids and for grown ups playing it, the track layouts, AI and the vehicle physics while driving actually help set this game apart as a racing game, although the physics can also land you in infuriating situations, as well. In general this game is is probably the most interesting experience I've ever had with a racing game the way it handles.

Multiplayer is pretty simple and straightforward, it works in matchmaking manner, ideally, you hit the matchmaking button, and you find a lobby where a bunch of other people join to wait to start the game, choose their vehicles, all that, you vote on a selection of 5 different tracks, 3 from the base game, 2 being randomly selected custom tracks shared online by players, some of the custom tracks are awesome but others seem to have been made by complete psychopaths with how weird it is to clear them and what they do with the track layouts.

The livery customization system is downright incredible, how you can individually select different parts of the car and change the color, the material/finish, and with it's decal system you can put absolutely anything you want on the bodywork of the car of your choice with sparsely any limit save for your creativity, and the shared liveries made by the community that you can find show just that.

The custom track building is pretty advanced and highly malleable how you can meticulously lay out the banking, turn, lift, arc, edges and color of almost each and every single piece of track you lay down, the buttons used for operating this mode aren't very intuitive however, but once you get the hang of it, then like the madmen that share their crazy tracks online you can make practically any kind of track you could ever want to send your cars through with 6 different backgrounds including the customizable Basement, which, it's a nice touch to have a virtual customizable room though I personally don't care for much of what it has to offer, I care more about the cars.

Overall, if you're an enthusiast who's still fond of Hot Wheels today, have a passionate nostalgia for the Hot Wheels you grew up with when you were young, or have your own kids who love Hot Wheels and you wanna get them a game for their good behavior, I definitely recommend this. It's not perfect, it doesn't have all the cars I'd love to see in it, yet, but it's definitely shown that Hot Wheels has gotten to a very high point. 9/10

Pains me to say, as much as I will still LOVE this car which I fawned over in my childhood when I saw it in the World Race VHS movie I had as a kid, it's because of that and I know it deserves better that I post this to call attention to the fact that Milestone did this vehicle dirt. I fully appreciate having cars that aren't pay 2 win, like you just drop a dollar or two and you get a car that will outrun everybody else, yeah, we don't need that. But, we also don't need this slap in the face of buying a beloved, nostalgic hot wheels car only for it to handle as poorly as it does, especially in online races. Atleast give it a one point buff of top speed and a two point buff handling, the only passable acceleration should still balance it out and not make it overpowered especially compared to more well rounded and better performing cars in the game.

God da mn this game was a blast to play through, such blood pumping combat with an emphasis on quick yet precise button presses for varied moves and better scoring, so satisfying, a kickass soundtrack, and really nifty characters with very interestingly unique playstyles. This game made me question what I've been missing out on all this time, having not touched a Devil May Cry game until I tried this one. Definitely shoot for the Deluxe Edition, try to get it on sale to save money on the bonus goodies, better yet, Vergil as a DLC character is coming out, too.

The character is an essential to the game, but get the DLC on sale, she should not have been paid for seperately in the first place especially when she was already done and in the game to begin with and yet still, they charge for her as day 1 DLC.

If I were to sum up this parts pack in one word: Disappointment, the Enlightened One armor looks awesome, but what can be done with it is severely limited by the flame adornments that cannot be recolored or hidden, the santa claus outfit is meh, the misc parts are 4/6, but hey, atleast we got a regular belt hip piece, and some neat new stickers and hit effects, because that's what's really important for the game... right?

Bamco, even if it means alternating between a character DLC and a parts DLC, make, and bring back better parts than this. Please. I'd rather have a substantial game changer for adding to my customizability options than have my parts packs just be a side dish of disappointment to compliment a character release.
