Great roguelike card game with deep strategy and resource management, really brutal at higher covenant levels. This game will beat you harshly, you will like it, and ask for more.

It is a turn based, card battler with good pacing, a lot of interactions (in and out of combat) with some interesting playstles.
Derived from XCOM, but superheroes take no cover, they (Hulk) smash things on the faces of their enemies.

The Good:
- Fun to play, short missions with some twists to make you adapt your on the fly
- Each hero on your team has a customizable deck, not super complex, but makes you stategize and create some interesting combos with other heroes (the default missions takes 3 heroes of your choice, the story missions have special rules)
- It took me 90 hours to finish, I did some side-questing, but it is more than a lot of games gets these days
- The story and gameplay are well paced, there is always something happening on the Abbey (your homebase) and some new enemy types to adapt

The Bad:
- Anti-cheat software for a single-player game
- Monetization for cosmetics
- 2k launcher (everyone gets one these days for some unknown reason)
- Some bugs here and there, including one that made me restart some encounters
- Kinda expensive (specially if you are from a third world country like me)

In the end, had a lot of fun playing this game even with the bad things listed above

A small word of advice, crank up the dificulty to make things more interesting, and good luck finding the cat

Very fun game worth the price, good mechanics for the tactics lovers.

You manage a ship for the Imperium to face the rising threats through a stelar system, assuring your astartes skills and equipment are on point, running against time and machinations of Nurgle, the plague god.

I do recomend the ruthless dificulty, you have tough decisions and a lot of crysis to manage, with some hard but rewarding battles.

Do you like tactics (like tactics ogre) and army management? buy it, is that simple.
If you remotely like those topics you will like this as much as I enjoyed playing it :)

Really cool class system and squad management, some map cleverness and different tactics are required to overcome some nastiness of the enemy.

I do recomend warlord difficulty though, because the base diffculty kinda leans on the easy side of things.

Minor point here, I usually do not care for graphics, but I do like a consistent aestethic, and that is a bit of a mish mash of assets outside the battles, some RPG Maker feelings here and there, specially on the story parts. BUT the units are very well presented and animated on the battle map.

In the end, yea, is that good.

Ok... mixed feelings here and *minor spoilers ahead*, if you want to avoid that (and it IS better whitout spoilers) the TLDR is:

5.5 out of 10, wait for a discounted version, hard pass at full price

Long Version (WITH MINOR SPOILERS):

Ok, it is a 3 part game that feels incomplete in many aspects, and at the same time it would be a better game if had less of it, let me explain with scores:

Part 1: 8 out of 10 (AWESOME)
Part 2: 3 out of 10 (TERRIBLE)
Part 3: 6 out of 10 (GOOD)

[Part 1]

Is AWESOME, great pacing, presentation, puzzles, mechanics, if that was the whole game it would be better than the mish mash of the final product (even though the storytelling behind the game is good), this is the part that sells you the game, that is first presented to you, and is great! A roguelike cardgame awesomeness.

[Part 2]

Is TERRIBLE, suddenly you recieve a lot (and I mean A LOT) of new stuff that is not explained, it has (I kid you not) the worst possible interface, exactly when you need it the most, the mechanics are hard to understand on your own, and some are simply bad that cannot be justified. You start to compare with the [Part 1] that was so good, feeling sad with the nostalgia.

Hiding behind the aesthetics are a lame excuse for bad.

From a pure gameplay perspective, cut this part and you have a better game, and tell the story parts of it differently.

[Part 3]

Is GOOD, we go back to the nice parts, leaning to the [Part 1], the mechanics and gameplay are solid.

The bad part are some things that you MUST do on [Part 2] to access on the third, and some of the liberty of the five colums fall short when you have so much obstacles like trees, stones and bridge rails.

The puzzles are less polished (some are funny though), having to dig a little too deep to find proper answers, hinting a puzzle that is not (glowing chest I am looking at you) or recycled ones.

Honorable mentions to the awesome network boss and the card printing sections.

[Post game]

Concludes the history BUT leaves the player hoping for 2 aditional content with Magnificus and Grimora. And I understand that some cuts have to be made to ship a game, but feels incomplete, and it is not a hint of a second game or anything.

Unlocks Kaycee's Mod, that cuts the BAD and focus on the GOOD and polished [Part 1] of the game, having additional challenges, BUT requires you to finish the game first (and survive the [Part 2])

Simple and cool concept, manage your folks and your city to victory, dealing with losses and exploring dungeons for precious resources.

Combat mechanics looks like a simplified Darkest Dungeon and the class combination is very cleaver, also very cheap with lots of fun, BUT not very long.

Excelent souls-like that meets metroidvania, exceptional pacing, atemporal game, great story and mechanics.
