Really impressed how a simple Warriors spinoff managed to not only capture the feel of the main game amazingly but also saving all the one-note/underdeveloped Thieves and introducing fantastic new cast members that we will sadly probably never see in any other spinoff. Cut the dungeon count a *little*, iron out some weird quirks, and balance the dungeon lengths/combat difficulty and we basically have a spinoff worthy of the main game

This game has been lauded by so many already but somehow there are still people who still aren't convinced.

I'm not a massive fan of rougelikes/lites/whatever by any means, but this game basically fixes all of my problems with the genre. Encouraging and rewarding death (especially early on where it's easy to lose motivation), giving you clear progression and a feeling like you aren't just praying to (and getting screwed by) RNG the entire time, and expertly tying it into a narrative that is extremely easy to get invested. Mix that in with all the classic Supergiant staples (tone, art, music, etc.) and you have a game that's impossible to put down.

(Also, literally EVERYONE is hot. They're gods, so it makes sense, but like, daaaamn it's insane)

About half of my hours are Early Access, but having just reached the official ending, I still have so much to go to reach the epilogue (and no real desire to stop), so it's definitely not a "stop playing once the story's over" kinda deal. Hell, I'll probably start a new save when I get there. It's worth your time and then some, and easily makes itself my GOTY.

For some reason I'm always drawn to these "hyper-difficult" games, even though most of the time I'm never very good at them. Guess there's a sadomasochistic part of me that loves slamming things on my desk and ragequitting games before eventually conquering them. It's probably why I still play Overwatch for God's sake lol. But Celeste was different from any Super Meat Boy or Bloodborne I played. Instead of deleting and reinstalling this game every few days, every annoying death gave me more time learn, take in the gorgeous pixel art, one of the greatest video game soundtracks of all time, and put the strategies and mantras featured in the wonderful and affecting story to practice. Although I'm too stubborn to use it myself, the Assist mode is a wonderful feature for anyone and everyone unwilling to torture themselves to witness this game's glory for themselves. Everything here just meshes together so well to create what few games get to be called: an experience.

Now to tooootally calmly play my way through the C-Sides before the massive FREE Chapter 9 DLC.

This game is nowhere near perfect, nor is it near the "classic" status the first game reached. However, it is a great game in it's own right that any fan of the game will enjoy.

Pros:

-kickass soundtrack (as mentioned earlier)
-beautiful art, backgrounds, and weather effects
-still as challenging and fun as ever
-level editor on the way to possibly fix level design complaints and add endless replayability

Cons:

-Level design is spotty, with an overabundance of glass and wide open spaces that often lead to unfair gun deaths
-The increased focus on gunplay is annoying and just unfun at times
-Story was all over the place and left me confused at the end (didn't read the prequel comics, so that may be it)
-Too many playable characters and not enough mask power variety or masks at all
-kinda buggy (AI, doors)

So, if you were a fan of the first game, go ahead and buy it, because no matter how flawed it is you will still enjoy it immensely. People who haven't? Just play the first one.

One of my all-time favorite games. Fantastic mechanics, fun combat, good soundtrack, visuals that hold up wonderfully, and a short but enjoyable story.

The only real negative I have is that the cutscenes are animated like those old esurance commercials. They end up looking ugly and cheap instead of transferring the game's style into a 2D medium.

Other than that, this is a fantastic game that shouldn't be missed by anyone.

This game is a frustratingly fun and violent arcade-style game. It makes you think about sensless murder and stuff, while just being an addictive twitch based murder simulator. The masks add lots of variability, and the ability to find puzzle pieces that give more story detail just gave me an excuse to play it again. If anything, buy it for one of the greatest soundtracks I have ever listened to (seriously), or just buy the soundtrack by itself.

A great, very cinematic action/adventure game. Make sure to have a pretty high-end computer though, because the spectacular, wallpaper-worthy graphics are worth it.
