A charming game that won’t appeal to everyone

Wytchwood is essentially one long fetch quest, casting you as a witch exploring a dark fairytale environment for ingredients in order to craft various potions which you need in order to appease the mysterious talking goat advising you. This will understandably alienate some of those who dislike this type of gameplay, but as one who isn’t typically a big fan of fetch quests I found the game to be surprisingly delightful.

The artwork is beautiful, the storyline and dialogue are well-written and entertaining, the music and sounds are fantastically orchestrated, and there is enough variety to the world, ingredients, and potions to keep the gameplay engaging.

I highly recommend Wytchwood to anyone looking for a soothing game with a great atmosphere (or looking to live out their fantasy of being a cottage-core crone)

I've read other reviews that say the crafting is essentially the entire game, crafting one thing so you can craft another and so on. I don't mind this, but what I do mind is timers and machine stacking like you have in Forager, My Time at Portia, and Oxygen Not Included. Am I going to be winding through a maze of crafting tables and checking each one to see if it's done, then running back to find which box all my radishes in? Or is it mostly about getting what you need and doing Terraria or Don't Starve style quick operations once you've got your ingredients in the right place?
