Superb game. I don't want to say loads about it because it is best experienced blind. Knowing nothing about this beyond the fact that it is a very well-written, well-paced, and well designed game is all you need.

pretty good game but these guys take their name of stunlock studios very seriously

so many things stunlock you and cancel your movement, so if that sort of thing annoys you then it's probably worth a miss

Awesome game. Highly recommended if you're a fan of classic Resident Evil and Silent Hill and other games like that.

It isn't particularly difficult and the resource economy is certainly not punishing but those things aren't really negatives in my books. The story is great, the creature design is great, the visuals and presentation are great, the game is overall just really enjoyable to play.

I'm a fan of the camera implementation, I think that they've captured the feel of those classic games mentioned above whilst avoiding the issues that fixed camera positions tend to have. The gunplay is basically what you'd expect from a game inspired by those old RE and SH games, where you stand and shoot and cannot move whilst aiming. I enjoy that, it prioritises good positioning and punishes overconfidence and getting greedy with how many shots you empty into a monster.

My only real complaint is that some puzzles or challenges felt a little too handhold-y, typically the ones that were core to the game's story. I understand the desire to make those easier so that people don't get frustrated by them, but given the audience this game attracts I think it's okay to make them a little more challenging to figure out. It's not the end of the world, though, as there are other puzzles present which do have decent challenge to them.

I'd honestly love to see more like this from this team. Creating survival horror with this classic feel and style is hard, especially with how overdone the trend is. This is definitely a worthwhile thing to pick up, especially for its price.

Early Access Review
I really dislike open world survival games but this one hits the right spots for me. I really love the art style, I love how easy it is to just pick up and play, I like how easy it is to gather resources that you need, whilst still retaining a good level of challenge.

The crafting system is easy to use, enemies telegraph their attacks well, gathering is simple, farming is simple, fishing is simple. You don't need food or water to survive, instead using food to cook recipes that you find in the world will permanently upgrade your character, a nice incentive to take advantage of farming and fishing mechanics without having to groan and roll your eyes because 2 minutes passed since you last ate, which by survival game logic means you're basically starving to death.

The combat isn't super engaging, you can dodge roll, power attack, and kite around enemies to keep on attacking whilst you move. There isn't much to punish you from swinging constantly nor is there much punishment for attacking whilst walking, but that's okay. Enemy types are different enough from one another to vary how you attack each one, and if it's a mixed group of enemies you do need to be more careful. The one gripe I do have is that attacking enemies isn't prioritised when objects are around. When you swing in a building, for example, there's a chance you'll just hit a chair rather than the enemy standing right in front of you, but I can deal with that.

This is a great game, and they aren't asking for a crazy amount of money. Definitely get it if you're on the fence.

It's for a good cause, and the stuff you get looks really good too. Even if you don't end up using it, it's good to get this, all of the money goes to something well worth it.

If you played the original source mod or Insurgency 2014 then now would be the time to move over to Sandstorm. Updates were a bit slow to start with, but a lot of the pressing technical issues were fixed and the game's playable (so long as you spend a bit of time tweaking your graphics settings, it still has mediocre performance).

I play co-op almost exclusively now, it's definitely viable if you aren't in the mood to do a PvP and with the hardcore mode and frenzy it's a hell of a lot of fun. Go buy.

Oh, I would love to see some more customisations regarding voices, though. Different nationalities and voice packs for both genders would be really good, it'd add a greater feeling of having a team of people that aren't all clones of your character.
