TL:DR - if you enjoy challenge and the feeling of accomplishment i would 100% recommend this game. Its worth every penny and more.

This is the best game ever made, hands down. Now let me back up this claim with a wall of text.

I first started my journey with soulslikes in Dec 2022 with Dark Souls 1 through a friend that shared his game library and heavily recommend me trying it after hearing about my interest in the game but never actually trying it. After getting half way through Dark Souls 1 and seeing my enjoyment a friend generously gifted me Elden Ring around March of 2023.

When first hopping in into Elden Ring i had very basic knowledge of souls like mechanics from my small DS1 experience, but that still made it a lot easier to grasp going into the game, after dying to the tutorial boss and going through the cave of knowledge or whatever tf I was absolutely blown away. Seeing Limgrave for the first time in all of its glory is a moment that i still cherish.

After a few months I came to the first part where i felt hard stuck (Morgott LOL) i gave the game at this point a break cause of some bad personal experiences, i didnt really think i would ever beat Elden Ring (or any soulslikes in general to be real) but something drew me back to play Dark Souls 1 again, i honestly couldn't tell you why, but coming back this time something just clicked.

This game, (and Dark Souls 1) ultimately gave me something i dearly lacked which was patience. Going back into Dark Souls 1 back where i left off half way through and challenge Ornstein and Smough which also gatekept me for a good while. Days after days and death after death i kept going in until eventually I did it.

I managed to beat Dark Souls 1 and never felt such a big wave of accomplishment. I pretty much took this momentum and went back to Elden Ring to go and challenge Morgott once again. Same thing, days past, a lot of deaths, but i too eventually beat Morgott and get hit with another wave of accomplishment. (this was all withing my first 150 hours of playing)

The feeling i got from defeating both those bosses caused the domino effect to where i am now. Both these interactions have changed me as a literal person to be patient, accept that failure can and WILL happen. It's just part of human nature to fail until we get it right and i didnt TRUELY understand it until I played Dark Souls/Elden Ring.

That being said, this will be my favorite game of all time. With how easy it is to get lost in the Lands Between, the many many boss fights you'll have, those experiences of small jolly co-operation bring me genuine happiness during not so happy times. and for that I will forever be thankful for this game.

there is a reason this game is topping charts, the gameplay loop is addicting.

Honestly a lot more of involved fighter than you think, genuinely impressed given how the game looks. Would def recommend giving it a try.
