Killed a thousand zombies. Survived for years and years.

Stepped on a rusty nail and died from the infection.

I couldn't really get into it. The graphics were upgraded from the original and the gameplay was the same--I played it originally on the old PS1 in the 90s. Old school. It was fun. This one played just as well, much better graphics, but compared to the new Tomb Raider and excellent newer games like Legend, it was hard to get back into the old gameplay so I quite after a few minutes. Still a good game. If you've never played the original, looking to enjoy it. Recommend playing this before all the newer ones, though, which spoil you.

I *LOVE* this game. Not the whole franchise, just this game in particular. Played it through twice on the 360. Fired up the Steam version here and it looks and plays exactly the same so I didn't play through it a 3rd time but was tempted to. Well worth the discounted price I got it for, although it's just as good on the 360.

And ftr, I also enjoyed the new Tomb Raider, played it through twice as well, and loved it! But, I was not crazy about Anniversary or Underworld. Those two just seemed buggy and not as immersive. Looking forward to the new one. Planning on getting Rise soon.

I love Homeworld. Brilliant game. But, HW2 just pisses me off! Especially missions 11 and 12. Fortunately, there's enough enjoyable gameplay in HW1 that I consider it a good purchase anyway. I played the original games over 10 years ago and HW2 pissed me off back then too. I'll just have to look up a walkthrough. Crappy game design. Wonder if the sequel was outsourced because I hate it.

Incredibly detailed game with gorgeous graphics. I'm running it on Ultra at 60 fps with no crashing (i7 4.0GHz, 8GB DDR3, GTX 970).

The settlement building aspect is fun; I spent 8 hours doing that and ignored the main questline for a long time. I enjoyed it and got my money's worth.

That's what most Fallout fans aren't willing to admit--that you got 100+ hours of entertainment for pennies per hour. The complaints are all valid, for a hardcore fan, and I agree, and much of the story is irritating at best. This is not an RPG. I like to compare it to AbramsTrek--that's not Star Trek, it's stupid, it's idiotic, there's no plot, the scenes are contrived, but millions of people claimed to enjoy it. Similar with the new Star Wars film--millions of new fans who "don't get it". The studio doesn't seem to care because it raked in the money.

Fallout 4 is VERY frustrating because of bad writing, though (regarding the main quest and etc). It's really just impossible to know what to do in the main questline without looking up online to get hints about what to do next. There's no indication in the quest log what's critical or main plot vs optional. The settlement building is optional, for instance--that's just part of the minutemen faction. I don't know... it was fun but shouldn't have taken as many hours as I spent on it. Half of those hours were not necessary. I just assumed the game was free-roam, but in fact the main quests are there if you figure out (e.g. online search) what to do. Wrecked my SoD. BAD DESIGN. Be prepared to be irritated and have to look up answers. A good design should not require that. I never had to look anything up with Fallout 3.

One good sign that this game is a failure, though, is that I couldn't bring myself to play it twice, even with a new female character. The gameplay is just too...stupid. I won't be buying the DLC. I'm done with this. And, in contrast, I played Skyrim through a dozen times on the 360 and PC. Even when I knew exactly how to beat the game, it was still fun. Fallout 4 is just not fun. There should have been a mode where if you don't side with the minutemen, then settlements build up on their own so you can continue with the game without holding their hands.

I played this game for about 80 hours shortly after it came out (I don't know, 10 years ago or something). It was fun at the time, and can be fun still. It took a little tweaking to get it to run under Steam. Have to set the -ne option so the game runs in windowed mode in order to go into the video settings and set the correct resolution (otherwise it just quits right after starting up). That problem solved, I jumped in at 1920x1200 and it ran fine. But, I am reminded of the user interface which I did not like last time I played it. The graphics have also aged poorly after so many years. I recall at the time, and again just today when I put another hour into the game, that the UI is distracting, making it take about twice as long to get things done as I would prefer (versus a competing game like Civilization IV, at the time, which is much smoother to handle). Overall, I can't recommend this game today to anyone but a fan of the series. There are better strategy choices. Not least of which is Rome II, which is more updated than this old one.

Played a human sorcerer on a small map for the win on Knight. Tried to play again as a Warlord on Lord and got creamed before I had even captured another city. Got pwned again as a High Elf Druid and decided to call it quits. Very fun game while it lasted but I don't feel like mastering all of the classes and units. It was some solid gameplay for 40 hours, very pleased with the purchase for only $8.99.

Addendum: I wrote this review after the first few plays and did not note that it became one of my favorite go-to strategy games for many years. I finally switched to Stellaris and Civ V after playing this thru a dozen times. It is extremely fun once you give it time and buy a few DLCs for more variety.

Lots of nostalgia here, but the PC version is too buggy for me. Just in the first mission, escaping the ship, the game got stuck in a dialog--had to save and re-load to get out of the screwup. (Happens a few times again after that). Sorry, but I'm just not willing to put up with so many bugs this early on in the game. The original Xbox game was fantastic, but I just can't put up with this. Can't recommend it, even for nostalgic reasons.

It's a great game but I had rendering issues with the PC/Steam version and eventually got tired of screwing with the settings. I don't know if it's a Windows 10 issue or not, but doubt it. So, I'll stick with the XBox 360 version of the game. I also played Skyrim on the 360 and PC (multiple play-throughs on both platforms), but with Oblivion I haven't been able to stick with it. The gameplay isn't compelling enough? I don't know, but I'll give it another chance on the Xbox. There the graphics aren't as good but at least it doesn't stutter or have screen tearing problems.

I put up with a lot of crap from game developers when I really love a game. This is one such game. Alien Isolation is about as buggy as they come, but I was so enthralled by the experience that I jumped through hoops to get to the end. The game hard crashes repeatedly on some missions, even with settings turned down to Low. I managed to squash all crashing by reverting my Nvidia driver back in time to the 347.09 driver (12/2014) since no newer drivers were usable with this game. Massive hard crashing (meaning, PC is hosed, not able to just kill the app). This is inexcusable in a PC game and warrants a downvote. I would definitely not recommend this game for PC. Get the console version, unless you enjoy modding. It is quite fun to mod the game, and in my case, that was the only way I was able to finish it.
