Shadows makes a good first impression. It has the best stealth gameplay of the series. The visual tech is great bringing the series into the modern era. Unfortunately, it’s an extremely repetitive experience. Almost everything can be unlocked by the 30 hour mark with only ¼ of the map explored. There's nothing more to see at this point. Ubisoft built a 120 hour game with 30 hours of gameplay progression.

Additionally, most of the world is made of impassable objects requiring you to stick to main roads on your horse as it autopilots itself to a destination. Combat is a mess that can be only overcome by unlocking upgrades that essentially bypass it. Enemies spam unblockable attacks from all sides making lock on and parrying a hindrance use. Yasuke makes no sense as a playable character. He is the anti Assassin’s Creed. He can’t stealth or assassinate.
