The story is meh and I'm going to replay again and go high volume music and low volume sounds before giving an opinion on that. The combat I prefer here far more than eternal though; I think quick swap in eternal is crap so this was a good move. Also not dashing around in the air is a huge plus; always thought it looked corny.

Big mech and dragon sections would be OK if it was 1 or 2 max per but they overstayed their welcome if you ask me.

Guns and all the special attacks are great; no issues there at all. Much more satisfying to fight in this game than eternal though the overuse of parrying is debatable.

"No" glory kills unless jumping down on an enemy is lame and my idea would of been to have glory kills be anywhere inbetween very fast instant ones and longer animation ones at random. Good move on not relying on them to farm health back.

Ammo back in the old 90's days was a big thing to manage and you were punished for misses. Dark ages is the most broken of all Doom games with seemingly infinite ammo and I always found that to be silly.

I would greatly like the sound volume to come down for the Doomguy's thicc thigh sprinting everywhere and the default to remove or just delete the sprinting side effects on the screen. You can turn off in HUD fortunately but it gets rid of all the indicators which I only would want that and the deep red removed or reducible for better vision.

Worth the money for sure!

Ancient player since the old 90's Doom 2 Quake 1 days. Phenomenal game. A+.

Update: The new event update has greatly reduced the amount of high ping problems and actually runs better now. Still plenty of issues but finally the devs are starting to fix the game.

Was an A game but now is a C game at best. Chinese hackers EVERYWHERE; the anti cheat is failing hard and they are protecting cheaters now... Partnering with vac banned cheaters from csgo is a bad move.

Only fps game I've known that has no ping limits (new thing they did wtf) and no region lock. Horrible idea and I doubt the new ping limit thing will do any good.

Update 2025: So I was one of the first 2000 players back in 2018 and have seen it all in this game just about. Before 2020 this game was the tits. The amount of identity crisis mistakes and faults in the game is ridiculous since then so I only can partially recommend this game now. Dropped my score to a B for now and I hardly play anymore but I still have hope they will go back to a far more hardcore direction like it used to be.

Since 2020 shotguns have sucked hard and even with supposed recent buffs I find them lacking. Rifles were all you needed and if garbo like crapshot is going to stay you can just crouch lever spam with little to no skill now. It's nice they addressed blademancer beserker bug thing but crapshot and corpse seer are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and need to go. I'm always a strong anti-darksight fan BUT the 75m blind "spider sense" or instinct feature they added I feel is a good idea. A bounty should be a risk reward mechanism and not a weapon.

Air strafing, jump spamming, stupid spinning around circle jerking, and no momentum really make this game feel cheap and fortnite ish. Please take a good lesson from EFT and impliment stiff movement penalties to make the game flow better and not hear constant jumping every second from every loser player that has no appreciation for proper game play.

UI should of simply been I-M-M-E-D-I-A-T-E-L-Y changed when the review bombing happened upon Alpha. This is the most important time of all to get it right and retain customers. They DID (for me anyways) fix many performance problems a week after launch which is commendable but not nuking the UI due to pride is a huge failure that has cost them quite a bit of money.

In any shooter I have ever played (other than ancient 90's games) a REGION LOCK is standard. Hunt doesn't have that. Tremendous mistake allowing cheaters or cheat developers play your game and learn how to code and re-sell cheats by having access. Many players I know and ignore are whitelisted closet cheaters in this game and even if caught will just buy the game again. Hiding from the issue instead of tackling it like huge and others have illustrated is simply the wrong way; however, if they lack the ability to create better anti cheat then I understand and wont give too much grief.

Bounty ass (clash) apparently is popular and although it's not for me at all the problem is this mode reduces standard bounty hunt population quite a bit. I would recommend trying this out on a rotational basis and whenever it's low population turn the mode off. Having Hunts where it's me vs 1 trio or 2 trio's and that's it is pretty dull.

I am still glad many of my ideas made it into the game but my worry is they will never aim to go back to anything close to the golden old days of this game. Can we also please reduce event times to 2-4 weeks? Events are good that they do but they are not optional and many people like myself prefer classic Hunt with less gimmicks. I could make this review drone on forever but I have a life and things to do. IF you haven't played Hunt then buy and try it out. If you are an old hunt vet though this review is more aimed at us.

Ok update as of 4-26. The latest patch massively is changing the game and it's a ton better now. NICE WORK BLUEHOLE! Also glad I can stay dedicated on Mirimar now instead of campity camp ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sitting in grass and bushes in the old map. I will keep my old review below but the game is a lot better now guys. Thanks!

There was a ~2 week period where the anti cheat patch was in effect and the game was AWESOME. Unfortunately every single ♥♥♥♥♥♥ FAGG0T cheater (any chinese or Twitch streamer names are guaranteed cheaters) will auto kill you. I only play FPP and the cheats are just as bad there as TPP but marginally better at least in FPP. NA region by the way. Once they rolled the anti cheat patch back to allow cheaters to re buy the game and make more money for themselves the game went back to its ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ status. They definitely could of solved the cheater problems if they wanted to but that would lose them money from all those that re buy the game. 16% or more of the population cheats in this game; that's insane considering it's not including all undetected cheaters and those that macro script cheat. Advice: ADD RANDOM VERTICAL RECOIL. At least no recoil would disappear if auto spray was entirely random after shot 2 or 3. The guaranteed death AR spray will get you instantly with lvl 3 armor helm at long range. Even driving or behind walls from a split second peek they instant spam mini14 sks or any AR and you die. I kill maybe 1 or 2 every 100 times a car drives by (not talking about buggies or bikes here but trucks/buses/dacias) but hackers kill you instantly outright even in trucks or dacias at full speed while swerving. Damn shame because the content was reallly well done in this; mirimar desert map was so much fun without hackers ruining it. Dead game. I gave it a few months but it is not improved. Fixes have to come before content. Anti cheat should be #1 but it's not and those that claim "it's not easy to stop cheats" are probably cheaters because it is easy to determine them. Over 1 million cheat bans in a month... That's insane... Better games on the way. Region lock might be coming and that wont save the situation. At least if they did that early on it would of alleviated most of the hackers out of american servers but they would lose income. Notice this folks: once the new crates and skins (cosmetics you can purchase) hit the market they mention region locking. Once they replace the "re-purchasers" (i.e. hackers who keep getting banned and return) then they MAY finally go after the hackers and I'll change my review. Money is understandable for motivation but ethics and quality should always come first. It's been a year; no excuse for not exterminating most or all hacking. Worst I've seen in any game and I've been around gaming since the 80's. Beautiful game ruined by greed. If they at least re-input the anti cheat patch they rolled back that would help quite a bit. Don't roll it back because you want to milk more money from cheaters. Those that complain either have awful computers and/or cheats and should not be allowed to play. NO EXCEPTIONS. Anyways better and grander BR style games are on the way and I won't be alone in dropping this game once they hit. It would be a dream to prosecute those that cheat and require gov ID to buy these kind of games but I doubt that will ever occur. Props to china gov for at least trying to combat hackers slightly. Fortnite has too many colors for me and I hate TPP (I'm very old). Hopefully I can change my review in the future but DO NOT BUY this game for the time being.
