Source Film Maker is everything you need to start your journey as a 3D animator
It's simple... The UI is very easy to use, make use of a Workstation style of Animation desk as well as supports alot of extensions that are made by the community.

During the 150 Hours I've had using this animation, I can say alot of good, and alot of bad.
The good side of it.
It's simple, Acts similar to blender in a way, but with a dash of the Adobe Animate software with it's generous Keyframes UI and part of the updates allowing items to be attached for those who are learning vs people who know what to do.

Part of the negative expierence has to do with the support of the software itself
The past 8 Years this software has been out, the lack of support for newer Machines, Encoding or even engine support has been ignored. The software still uses 720P supposed to New formats allowing 4K60FPS, which can only be achievable via Blender Exporting. It's quicktime extension has been out of support for 2 years fails to be worth while as it does nothing with newer technology today but add security risks to your system

Support for SFM is ignored in major areas, such as making use of full Multicore potential on systems, Minor areas in Stability on newer Cards have not been ignored.

Do I recommend it? Yes, if you wish to learn basic animation.
In the long run of Advanced animation, options are there.
I'm not saying it's bad, I'm just hoping Source FilmMaker improves it's capabilities with the new Engine seen in AlyX
