A blast from the past, remastered and still as fun as it was back in my youth, the music has been improved upon by Frank Klepacki and The Tiberian Sons, it still gives the right mood and essence in the game play and once more hearing the Hellmarch.

Some of the bugs and odd behavior of the core game is still there, guess they could not be removed, but that is a minor matter, the game is still good and it feels awesome to once more play both the first command ang conquer games again, I am sort of hoping that there will be a remastery of RA2 and Tiberian Sun.

Playing this game reminded me of other first person puzzle games like for example Portal.

While the game looks and feels like most indie games in the genre, it does make up for it in stability and cleaver puzzles, the gameplay and maps feature some out of the box thinking and potential for those into speedrunning, I felt at times that while I was certain I was doing the right thing that I had missed something easy and was overthinking it, rather then approaching it logically, I can recommend the game as something fun to try out and play when you need a bit of time of from the war games or need a game that will challenge your puzzle skills. ;)

If you are looking for the Grand Strategy Space Empire game, you need not look much further then Stellaris, it covers most of the desires you could have, a modest customization option where you can create your empire as you may want it to start, the game has a learning curve that is not to dangerous and you will pick up most things relativly fast.

I found the game intersting to play solo or cooperativly with friends, be prepared though you wont finish a game in one sitting, you will have hours or even days of governing your empire and leading your fleets across the galactic map according to your specifications.

If you like space empire games like Master of Orion, Endless Space among many other this is a game you will like and play for a very long time, the DLC's are for the most of the time not to pricey and does bring alot of unique differences to the galactic table, along with a soundtrack that is both epic and easy to listen to for hours.

update 2019-06-30:

With most fo the major recent dlc and a mechanism change a few patches back the game has changed allot since first review, but it stil holds up to snuff, the most recent dlc added relics and archeology to the game, It gives some nice lore and effects to expand you gameplay.

To be honest the game feels more like a Ghost in the Shell themed imitation of CS:GO and I do not mean that as a positive thing.

Going in to the game I felt the tutorial was more intersting then the acctual gameplay, there was parts I could see between my fingers but all in all it was a bit lacking, so unless you are into Call of Duty or a CS:GO experience in the Ghost in the shell universe, this is not the game for you.

I would rate it a 6 of 10, mostly due flaws in quality, efficency and gameplay mechanics.

nVidia graphics cards from what I hear seem to have a real issue with lagging on this title, having a AMD Radeon HD GPU I didn't notice much problems with heavy graphics lag, don't get me wrong there is some but not very often and not to the point I have heard.
from what i noticed the Vsync in the game seems to have little to no effect at all as the usual things one expect Vsync to fix just dosen't..

The story has some holes in it but that is not to uncommon when it comes to heavy FPS games where the story is rather overshadowed or most often hemorage due to lack of time or badly implimented.

The savepoint system is lacking a bit as one often will have to repeat a few rooms if one happends to die just before a savepoint that could be several heavy enemies in.

The sneaking mechanics is ok but at times very oddly tuned, at one point I was able to stand in the middle of an open room with the guard clearly having noticed me by what i heard but as I froze standing waiting for him to react by raising a weapon he just stood there looking at me, and did not move until I began shooting at him.

The filesize of +40GB will take most of you several hours to download if you don't have high download speed connection like ADSL2+ or ADSL2+M

Would I recommend this game?, a weak yes if the price is 19.99€ (27.5$) or less, if you are a fan of brutal fps and heavy alternative timelines where the Nazist win the war via a secret project or hidden power.

Did I personally like the game? ...I'dd say I neither liked or disliked it tbh, would I play it again, no .. I see no sense in playing it again to find the hidden items or to check out the second storyline.

I found the game mechanics average and could be better, camera controls could be better but i guess they are sufficent for the game as is of current quality.

While the games basic idea is good it could have been done a bit better and maybe even more so but it falls a bit short in both design as well mechanics to reach a better then average quality game or a score that would be recommendable in the current gamer/gaming climate.

I also found the intro to the game start menu to be annoying as it was not stop/brake-able, at least it was not to me anyhow, to me if you cant stop the intro(s) to get into game or game start menu then its not worth the time, if this was only my machine that did this or does not matter

Anyhow overall the game was average and I could thus not recommend it

A superb game and a specil nostalgic kick to anyone that played the Shadowrun games from SEGA & SNES, interesting story and potential of community epic stories via Steam workshop.

Overall I recommend this game only for those wanting to continue on the story of Artyom.
+ The game has some improvements to graphics
+ Sound and music has been slightly improved
+ Voice actors have improved their performance from that of Metro 2033
~ Story is ok to the start but becomes very perdictable and becomes stale towards the end
- as with Metro 2033 it has a high heat index on the GPU but M:LL has it even while low activity or when watching static scenery.
- Long loading time from game start to main menu (not skipable)
- Credits include what looks like a fulltexted license agreement

XCOM: Enemy Unknown is a remake developed by one of the elite studios when it comes to strategy games 'Firaxis Games', The game is a re-imagined version of the classic epic strategy game 'UFO: Enemy Unknown' (Known as "XCOM: UFO Defense" in North America) by Mythos Games and MicroProse.
