9/10

A must play game. Developers truly understood how to inject politics, delineate positions while still leaving the conversation open enough to allow the player to arrive to their own conclusions. Even if much of the game seems to lean in the direction of authoritarianism is bad, they still make the effort to defend the position through conversation with characters in the game.

The game is old, of course, so I want to make you aware of its faults. I consider them to be forgivable regardless of the fact that the game is old, but the fact helps. But because of it's age I think the form in which games were being developed at the time allowed for lots of small details you can't really find in many (even triple A) games today.

-Controls suck. Augmentations are activated through function keys which feel out of the way and can break the flow of gameplay until you get used to them. Flash light is activated with F12 and can't be changed in game so you have to change the steam screenshot hotkey or you'll end up with a million screenshots.

-Physics are strange at times, thrown objects sometimes won't behave the way you'd expect them to and can screw up an attempt at stealth so save often.

-You're gonna have to save scum a lot because of the physics and because it's an RPG. If you're anything like me I'm very specific with my actions in RPGs so I save scum religiously.

-Some augmentations and skills are more or less useless from my experience.
Useless Augments: Aqualung, spy drone, targeting.
Useless Skills: Heavy Weapons, Low-Tech Weapons, Demolition Weapons, Environmental Training, Swimming (after trained)
