25 years later it still holds up. Still great fun. Doesn't feel like a game that was released only 5 years after Doom came out because it established so many of the modern FPS conventions. It feels a little dated at times, but not that much. For younger folks who weren't yet born when this came out, you may have to work a little bit to get past the old graphics and sounds, but once you get used to it you're gonna have a great time. Just go for it.

Busy clicking game. Was mildly entertaining when first released many years ago, but it's really past its prime now 10 years later. Just isn't fun at all. Clunky clicking controls that aren't very responsive. Just skip it. Move on to other things.

You are likely to only get 60 to 90 minutes out of this game. You have been warned. Furthermore, this is more of an "experience" and it's the kind that once had can't be re-had so there will not be any replaying this one.

That said. This is a frightening surreal experience. The sound design is fantastic...turn that volume up. Embrace the pacing, learn the lore, and let the tension wash over you.

The less said about the world, the better. If the pictures intrigue you, then it's probably the right game for you.

Recommended with caveats.

TL;DR Follow this decisions tree to make your choice:

-Can you tolerate a short game (3 hours MAX for first playthrough)?
--Yes: Continue decision tree.
--No: Don't buy.

-Are you ok with casual game mechanics without serious consequences for failure?
--Yes: Continue decision tree.
--No: Don't buy.

-Does the art style appeal to you?
--Yes: Continue decision tree.
--No: Don't buy.

-Are you ok with playing what is effectively a moving painting?
--Yes: Buy it.
--No: Don't buy.

Longer explanation:

The right player for this game is probably the kind of person that can look at the pictures and trailers and they just kind of "know" this is the right game for them. This is a casual gaming art. It's a painting in motion that tells a story through it's visual set pieces and you're the tourist experiencing all of this. If that sounds like your thing, get it.

Know that this game is short. Buying it on sale is probably the best course of action. YMMV but you are likely to get maybe eight hours max out of this. Likely you'll spend 2 to 3 hours on your first playthrough due to exploring and sight seeing and learning how the game works and taking in all the wonderful art and surprise moments. Note to the wise: Do NOT read any guides before your first playthrough, just experience it as is! The remaining three playthroughs will likely just be to 100% the achievements for this game. And thats it's you'll be done in about 8 hours if that's how you play it.

Now, if you can stomach that short of length, should you buy it? I think the handy quick quide above summarizes it. Maximum value has been placed on the presentation of the world in art form. And I personally feel it's fantastic. All the details still stuck with me by the end of my fourth playthrough. It was short but sweet.

Like I said above. If this is the game for you, stop reading this, you already kind of know it's for you. If you're still on the fence by this point reading my review, it's probably not for you. And that's ok too. Good luck with your decision.

Didn't rush at all, still finished the game in 5 hours. If you like puzzle games and just outside the box storytelling and problem solving or puzzle platformers, this game is for you. Strongly recommend. If it's on sale, don't even hesitate, get it immediately! Almost worth the full non-sale price of admission, but the game is rather short, so YMMV.

If you're the kind of person who was interested enough to come to the store page and you're reading my review, there is a 99% chance that this game is for you. It's that simple. Buy it.

Once in a lifetime experience kind of game. The kind of game that is so good you wish you forget it so you could go back and play it all again. The less said about it the better. Play it. Period.

Game is a jem. Totally bonkers concept made by a small team which works better than it seems like it should on paper. Very nice rock-paper-scissors kind of approach that rewards the same part of your brain that feels happy when it learns clever chess strategies. Game can still be a bit frantic and stressful at times but never dips into quite the chaos and insanity that most "pure" online FPS games do and that's a good thing. This game can actually be enjoyed by mere mortals who don't have lightning fast reflexes. I'll never rank high, but that's ok, because I have fun in almost every game whether it's close or I win overwhelmingly or they annihilate me. Fun times.
