Civilization no longer feels like a sandbox game. The game feels like you're playing a glorified Scenario from Civ 5 or 6. Similar to these scenarios, everything about your gameplay feels controlled, forced, and scripted. You're pretty much required to play a certain way in order to progress through the legacy paths. Every age is a soft reset, you are basically forced to participate in colonization during the exploration age, and your game ends after a victory has been achieved in the modern age (no more "One More Turn" button). The addictive property of Civ 5 and 6 was that the game never had any soft resets or reloads that disrupted your immersion. This meant that you kept wanting to play onto the next turn, but once the age transitions I lose all interest to continue the next age and put it off until the next day.

The best way to fix this is to introduce a "Classic" mode where they just allow all Civs to be playable at the start until the end of the game with no age transitions/resets, merge the tech/civic trees from all of the ages, rebalance the science and culture costs for these trees so that the game is shortened and takes as long as a usual game of Civ 6, and have only a single set of classic victory conditions at the end. This will bring back the continuous sandbox game flow that was felt in Civ 5 and 6. They can re-brand the way the game currently plays through a its own mode called "Campaign".

A very good expansion for Civilization 6. However, I do think it is a bit overpriced for what you get. Hopefully future expansions provide more for the price or are a bit cheaper.

In my opinion, still one of the best Call of Duty games ever made to date. So many fun memories playing this back in the day.

One of the top games on Steam. Must get!
