6 hours in and far from finished. Horizon zero dawn is a game that almost made my purchase a PS4, so of course I bought soon as it was available. The game has been around for some time on consoles, so I don't feel its necessary to go in depth about that. All I will say is i can see the love and attention to detail put into this story.

From a pc perspective,
- Theres been a lot of reviews on the game crashing a lot, my guess might be people ignoring recommended settings. I stuck with what it set me at (all high) and crashed once at the 5 hour mark, which i'll boil down to the game telling me to go to sleep... and throwing a strider into 6 enemies. Specs are below
- in my opinion the starting controls are a bit clunky but some remapping makes things decent enough, theres just a couple issues i have with striders slowing down, the game forgetting you were sprinting despite still holding it down (after some interuption, not just randomly)

I'll be updating this review later on down the road, but felt the game was getting unfairly burned. Sure it could use some optimization as my pc should be able to run it at ultra, but it's not as bad as people make it out to be in terms of crashes. It's a great game, I love it and suggest others give it a shot.

Despite selling out to Facebook, and the community doing more to make this game what it is then the actual devs.. its a damn good game for VR. Do regret giving them my money though. I could care less what the default game has to offer me. Wait for a sale, not because its not worth it but because Facebook doesn't need more money.

[Disclaimer] This review is based on my experience with the game pre-launch, testing each stage of development since the game was posted on reddit in pre-alpha. Watching the game turn from a pile of bugs where you need to tread with care to stay in the map to something that runs better than anything coming out of Bethesda these days. Yes I received it for free, and yes I have helped (in ways) to get it to this point. However, I intended to give an honest review without personal bias.

[Notes]
This game isn’t done. Development is going to slow after launch due to outside time constraints, but we can expect the game to grow at a decent pace, meaning it won’t be a one and done game. Just like you do with your VR headset, you can pick up the game once in awhile and likely have something to do. As this update, so will this review. As it stands this review was written based on a version that wasn’t even the final release so… expect it to be a bit better.

Great game for friends or quick and fun matches. however, over time the match making has ♥♥♥♥♥♥ worse.

Hellblade is a stunning game, the story, the graphics, and the feel are amazing and was how it caught my eye in the first place. all the animations are fluid and pleasing, like you can side run and it looks normal!! As someone who hates horror, this was okay. it is creepy as all be (physcological horror), but doesn't use cheap jump scares even tho it had far to many chances to. The fighting is stunning and in my opinion very satisfying, the ending was okay. i really enjoyed it but was hoping for more, something diffrent. However all that is practicly ruined by all the damn puzzles! I think 65% is puzzles and 30% is walking sim. the walking didn't seem boring when it wasnt for a puzzle since the story tended to keep it alive. the early challanges are okay however they get bigger and much more repetitive as you progress, which i thought really ruined the mood in parts. At many points it requiring you to navigate to find something solving issues along the way, then navigate to the other end to tigger another and walk all the way back before completing the potion, some doing this many times over. i had one puzzle break on me. another thing im not a fan of is lack of any instruction, i had to go into controls to figure out how to climb a ladder, on the flip side i like that it doesn't tell you the combat combos because finding them is much more fun.

Note: in case devs read this, tho not likely. i would LOVE some arena mode, to just fight constant waves of enemies with the combat system. i did find it satisfying and it would provide a stress free place to practice and discover combos. another thing i would like is to replay parts when completed, theres parts i really want to do again but wont do 5 hours of puzzles to do so.

Yes i recommend this game, i got it for $17 and i think thats a fine price, i think if they were able to do something other than the puzzles to fill the time i would easily consider the $30 price good, but becuase of how much time it takes up it just feels like a bad filler.

wow. i think this is close to the best $4 i have ever spent on steam, simple yet swesome.

-virtualy no system impact (depends)
-tons of wallpapers
-built in creator so if you can't find something in the vast workshop, just make it.
-supports gifs, and videos
-tons of options (like icon transparency)
-can run without steam (only needs it for workshop)
-downloaded backgrounds (from workshop)
-pauses when the background is covered (helps your system)

Cons:
-way to many options for backgrounds (not exactly bad)
-pauses when covered (there has been a time where im listening to the music of the background and it also pauses the sound, little bit annoying but i prefer that it pauses)

i started playing this game 2 years into ints creation so i wasn't the first to the crowd, however based on the current playerbase i am a vet, when i started playing the game was pretty well balanced and the best way i think i can describe it was a lego battle sim. you could build your death machines and battle others, then they removed megas and everything that i found fun when down from their. unbalanced weapons were added and never fixed, currency was changed, the ui was made difficult and more annoying to traverse, stuff that people had payed for was added with no refunds, and all and all it seemed like the devs were rushing to push out updates that wern't ready or tested, this was confirmed when i got with a youtuber buddy who has a press account and got some info. turns out the company was in need of more money to hire more devs to make more updates to make more money, which seemed like a stupid cycle when they were destroying the game to do it. something we noticed on our own before this was the devs complete focus on new players, everything that was being added was to nurf vets that knew how to play and give new playes a sense of pride by taking them down with aimbot weapons (original protoseekers pre-nerf) and it wasn't fun anymore. i know im not alone because shortly after i left the games top youtube promoter left (those that remember R0SEFALL) along with other not so popular yet still influential people like Gamers Guide. I just wish they would make a copy of the game as it was when i started playing and leave it as is and ruin a diffrent version, i wasted a lot of money on in game items that i wish i could get back after what they have done.

Summary:
if you don't plan on playing this for very long then its a great game that you will have immediate gratifaction for, just don't fall for the high prices that lure you to buy 'powerfull' weapons out of the gates. If your looking for a fun game to stick with, go somewhere else.


Edit: so i looked back at the devs notes that are public on this game and other reviews, and how can steam say its mostly positive when all the reviews you can see are negative (i am aware that theres many positive that arn't at the top for reasons of that they are new players or poor reviews) and how the devs say they "have community in our blood" when in reality they are money greedy and havent listened to their community about balances or suggested things to add. The only thing i have seen them fix is massive bug that made the game fun (2fast4u aka speed glitch) im just glad to see im not alone in my hate for the changed the devs have made.

Well then.... i don't normaly cry, or play story games, like ever. However this one had caught my eye in the past and since basicly a demo of it was free i said why not. And wow, im impressed by the style, by the story, and by the way it makes me think and feel. This game is special and i will be buying the full series. keep up the good work devs!

just wow. i love playing this game its a great way for me to relieve stress or just have a great time, i also like the fact that you can play through and get all the prime (or mainly paid for) items by collecting others and trading them for prime parts or plat. i manged to get loads of prime weapons and tenno from this and its great.
one downside is that it has a seperate launcher that doesn't update the game through steam and its updates take ages which is why i don't play as much lately... just an amazing game

Vrooom vroom, i loved this game it has great music that i sometimes just like to sit in the garage and listen to.

-all the crates with their special drops can only be ♥♥♥♥♥♥ by buying, it doesn't effect gameplay much but its a bit annoying
-best when played with friends, i don't play it much just alone anymore.

all around i love the game and hope they keep adding maps and more cars for the normal player please!
