The sunk cost fallacy is a cognitive bias that causes us to continue to pursue an endeavour that we have already invested in, even if it is not the best option. The fallacy is based on the premise that we should not waste the resources that we have already committed, even if they are not recoverable. The fallacy affects our decision-making and leads to sub-optimal outcomes. - Bing

I have played Arma 3 for 9,363 hours over the span of 11 years at the time of writing this. That averages out to 2.33 hours a day. If you were to dedicate this time to learning a skill, you would be considered a master in said skill. Unfortunately for me, Arma 3 is not something I can put on my CV or that will help me attract girls.

I referred to the sunk cost fallacy at the beginning of this review as I genuinely believe I have reached a point in this game where I only play because it's too late to give up. I run a semi-successful community based around this game and these people look to me to entertain them on their weekends. I do love this game, however, I can't help myself but to feel like I could've done something much better with my time.

Despite this, I keep going. Sometimes I am glad I did, sometimes I regret the choice to get involved with the game. Through COVID, the community I built turned into more than just an online gaming community, we were all stuck inside and so we played Arma and kept each other sane through social interactions. Though it is highly debatable whether we kept each other sane or worsened our deteriorating mental states through endless Arma shenanigans. It's a game where you can set the rules, play as almost any nation or faction you want. Any universe, any era. As an old man used to say to me; "It's your sandbox, Major.".

Damn ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ right it is.

TL;DR: Arma drove me to insanity, I 100% recommend you try it and let it do the same to you.

I have yet to redeem myself from the tragic events of the 7th of July 2015.

Unfortunately this is relatable.

I'm some 22 years in this addiction now. I completely agree with you.
