I first played Cyberpunk in 2022, on a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ old OG PS4, and at a pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dark point in my life. I didn't really know how to feel when I played it. It was alright, and I was really fond of the world, but that was kind of it. I skipped a LOT of dialogue, avoided cyberware, never modded any weapons, and basically randomly chose skills. I completed the main story and a few other side quests like the Judy and River ones. I finished the game (The Star ending) and collected my thoughts. It was a bit buggy and the graphics didn't look fantastic, but it was a cool experience and I pretty much constantly wished I was playing on PC (my PC at the time sucked and couldn't run anything but Counter-Strike).

The soundtrack, that stuck with me though. Almost every piece of music, diagetic, score, whatever, ended up in constant rotation for me, practically fused with my musical synapses. With that music, the game stayed with me, and in advance of a major PC upgrade, I bought the game during a sale and waited. The upgrade was delayed and I waited some more. Then finally, a few months ago, it finally happened. I got to play Cyberpunk again. And I dove into the deep end...

Phantom Liberty is one of, no, it IS THE BEST expansion OF ALL TIME. Blood and Wine? Ballad of Gay Tony? Dead Money? Old Hunters? Yeah love those but THIS RIGHT HERE takes the cake. The 2.1 update as a companion changed the game completely for me. The game is so rich with a sense of life that it lacked before, and all the other parts I already liked were amplified. The writing is stellar, one of the best stories for a game I've played. Characters feel and are sold as real, and I felt their pain as I went along.

I had been COMPLETELY missing out on the modding and cyberware systems! The progression mechanics and enhanced combat (especially on higher difficulties) make just running around the city an experience on it's own. The fun of happening upon some unsuspecting 6th Street Gangoons and slicing and dicing your way until there's nothing but sparks left can be a satisfying gaming experience like no other.

Here I am, in 2024, still cruising the streets of Night City in the Murkmobile, cyberware humming, and a killer soundtrack pulsing in my ears. Cyberpunk 2077 has evolved from a mere game into a lifeline, guiding me through the darkest of times and I'm STILL FINDING NEW THINGS! So, if you're still on the fence, take the leap. Night City awaits, and trust me, it's one hell of a ride.
