AKA Uriel-238 [strangenewwords.wordpress.com] I am not a robot. Nor am I a robot programmed to say I am not a robot. Once famous for my (one-hundred-plus) canned dialog options in Left 4 Dead 2, I've moved on to greater more glorious efforts in human interfacing. We're in the age of chatbots, personal digital assistants and (literal Mattel) Barbie Dolls that actually converse...and are easily hacked.

It's a weird time to be rewriting this, I suppose, what with the COVID-19 epidemic, the United States protesting police brutality (and the police brutally shooting the protesters). I haven't found my place in the rising revolution yet, but then neither has anyone else. But we're one bad altercation and a massacre away from civil war. It would make a great game if it weren't such a lousy reality. I'll add more here when there's more to add.

I'm still left-handed, and with more games designed to easily port between console and PC I am still doing tricks with AutoHotKey to make control schemes work better. It doesn't help that I'm getting old and my reflexes are slowing, so I rely less on skill and more on treachery. Typically, I'm focusing on separating controls, or automating option-wheel+click commands into single keys. This is much like the one-key heal-self or one-key heal-other I had made for L4D2.

The industry still doesn't focus much on input customization. If you have to think about it after the first couple of levels, they're doing it wrong.

No one must ever know I'm a robot.

Wow. Offended by the brand-deal arrangement that has been publicized regarding Shadow of Mordor, which I was looking forward to playing. Not going to happen until the complete edition (e.g. all DLC) is available at less than $5 and no sooner than 2017.

Offended by the Steam "game on sale" notice that BLOPS2 is only $30 today. ♥♥♥♥ you, Acti. Removed remaining COD titles from my wishlist.

Hey, I have a great suite of mods that make Cities In Motion MUCH more enjoyable. And I'm creating a map for CIM that puts all other CIM maps in the shade. Let me know if you want the mods list or a way to bath install them :) If nothing else, add the ultimate camera mod and lock the camera on a citizen to see your cities thru street-level eyes...

Once again, I find myself thwarted with the L4D2 Versus mode. I finished making a switch variable that allowed me to switch my name-change flags to mere team announcements, and delved into the local Vs. scene. Disappointed. I've gotten used to playing with a FUN group that didn't take the Vs. game too hard or too personally. Contrast to the more common SERIOUS groups in which kicking and verbal abuse are common penalties for a missed spit or charge. In my experience, this form of negative reinforcement is not a good way to coach inexperienced players to capability. I can only hope, for sake of the species, these people are never parents or teachers or anyone with authority over children. As a note, the FUN group are usually in New Zealand, while these serious groups sound local here in California. Maybe it's a regional thing.
