It's more of a commercial break than a review:

Max Payne is one of those games without which the video game world wouldn't be the same. An excellent story-game that does not require any special skills beyond elementary reaction speed. Max Payne was also the first game to introduce players to "bullet time" and did it so stylish that became almost instantly a phenomenon. I'm glad I was able to play it just when it came out, although even judging by today's criteria it's a great game that just attracts attention. The story dares to be so grim that already after the first playthrough I knew that I will never forget about it. In any case, the fact is that in 2001 it was a complete hit that wrote its name in both gaming history and the entertainment world in general.
The only downside I would point out is that it's very short (approximately 8-9 hours), but on the other hand it may be a good thing since several potentially good stories have been ruined in the past because developers or writers have lost their vision somewhere in the process.
