the level design is occasionally confusing, the time limits can be a little frustrating (and would benefit from being slightly more generous without really hurting the overall experience), and slightly more obvious guidance would help smooth things out. that said, the story is phenomenal, the aesthetic is great, and the core gameplay loop (outside of previously mentioned confusion) is pretty enjoyable. i cannot praise this series enough.

game of the year

My only complaints are some questionable hitboxes (especially with the exploding crates), occasional geometry clipping issues, and lack of closure. But that kinda seems like the point. The puzzles are fun and I would love a Road to Gehenna type DLC where the gameplay picks up with the hardest puzzles the devs can create, using all of the mechanics to the fullest and iterating more on the story.

One of the best games I've played in a while. There's an entire bonus event for collecting treats for a dog. I beat this once before version 1.0 came out and started from scratch for my second one. I've still got stuff I want to do and I've clocked at least 60 hours on this save alone. Buy it if you like arena shooters, slaughter maps, and/or FPS rogue-lites.

Grey but better. A couple good jumpscares, plenty of good atmosphere, the boss fights are interesting, and the game is pretty tightly packed. There weren't any sections that went on for longer than they needed to. Having to traverse between the different areas of the town multiple times could be seen as a negative, but it also opens you up to a less linear experience and gives you the opportunity to explore the world however you want. Definitely worth the price if you're in to FPS survival horror games.
