It's literally just oblivion with a new coat of paint.

Pros:
They didn't touch a lot of things keeping the game true to it's core.
They made it so you can level up other stats when you level up, a great tweak.
Goblin war mechanic might be fixed... I don't know for sure but had a friend who was attacked by a group of rogue goblins.

Cons:
All the bugs good and bad are still here, some did get fixed I think but there's still plenty
level scaling is still unrealistic.
With the graphics upgrade, you stutter a bit like you would back on the 360 when entering the open world.
It's still a little grindy if that's the right word.

if you're looking for a reason to play oblivion, this could be it, just don't expect this to be vastly different from the original game apart from appearances.

I recommend this game, it's insanely fun and challenging. It forces you to develop strategies to block and attack or even dodge. I remember someone saying the player moves too fast but I don't see that. the player moves fairly slow and even with the ability to teleport half a mile away, you can't teleport directly next to the other robots giving them a chance to turn and counter or even continue their swing into you. The only other option for mobility I've seen is the dash which only works if you move your arms while holding the button. Also I saw someone else say that they made the weapons drop when you grip your weapon which yeah that's how the game comes default, but this wasn't hard to fix, was just a quick trip to the settings menu and now I only let go of weapons when I let go of my controllers.

My biggest problem right now is

lack of content
a small weapon pool (add warhammers and mauls, I want to see those fights or even a war pick would be awesome)
not much to do after beating the game (make an endless mode or challenge runs like only one hand/one arm or a single weapon run)
lack of variety in maps (there's a good selection for the initial run in the game but I've seen them all and seen them repeated with the same enemies.)

The janky two handed weapons, they feel... awkward to wield I don't know how to put it other then it doesn't feel right though I have been getting used to them so it might just be a learning curve, I'd look into it

And commitment of the Turbofists, I'm not saying allow the player to freely swap between them. But it could be a good idea to allow the player to sell their current turbofist in the shop, then they're starting with an unupgraded turbofist and need to either play catchup getting coins to upgrade it at the next shop or stick with it.

Truth is I recommend this game, but I have issues that I feel like are important to address and that you are probably looking for if you hit the negative review button.

One word I'd use to describe this game as a whole is... Mediocre
Graphics, still hold up and are well done
but gameplay is... finicky
the story, the main over arching story is well done, the little bits though are... ehh, hit or miss really
TL:DR at the bottom

Graphics, They hold up, if you're looking for problems then you'll find them like flat planes used for the hair, Lara being the only character who's appearance changes throughout the game, repeating texture tiling, there's issues and there's more of them. Most of the time, you really don't notice them or are in the background enough to not draw your attention. Otherwise the graphics are fairly stunning at times, things are well communicated like having climbing walls use one textures or jumps/scramble jumps using white paint, it's communicative and well thought out.

Gameplay. As I said it's finicky, there's jumps that you should be able to do but the game stops you, there's literally a door in the third act Lara could very easily climb over to get to a secret lab yet you can't climb it at all. At times I also felt frustrated with the parkour cause I knew I could make a jump and I knew how, but the character was difficult to control. There's not a lot of parkour either, and it's all very basic stuff, was left dissapointed and wanting more; even with my previous stated issue, it wasn't that bad.
combat was interesting, you get four weapons and there's a simple but good stealth system, my biggest problem is at times, it feels like you're supposed to action hero your way through instead of stealth, which is fine, if it didn't put a checkpoint right at the door and when you load said checkpoint, all the enemies aggro onto you as if they've seen you the entire time. Otherwise, finishers are quick and impactful, combat has a fair amount of unique moves like throwing sand into peoples eyes or doing a dodge attack with a qte, I enjoyed it at least.
Concerning other mechanics, the upgrade system is fairly good, though there's a problem with scrap that I'll get to in a moment. But finding parts for your weapons and using experience to upgrade what moves Lara can do felt good and well paced overall. However, the hunting system is annoying, the biggest problem with it is that when you can't find any more scrap boxes, you're next way to get scrap is to hunt animals once you've gotten a perk, and it was not only so slow, but if you hunt in an area too much, the animals stop spawning and you get a notification saying that the area is hunted out. This wouldn't be a problem if the game told you when animals would start spawning again if at all. I ended up using cheat engine to get the final bit of scrap I needed cause it was no longer enjoyable trying to find an animal to kill
Speaking of hunting, this game feels a little confused on what it wants to be if it wants to be a survival or action game, thankfully there's no hunger cause that'd be miserable with the hunting mechanic, but it feels like they realized it last minute and quickly patched something over it. I dunno how to put it.
Also the Camera can be quite frustrating to work with when you're looking up but walking around something to get a better look at it

Finally, the story, don't worry, no spoilers... cause the game spoils itself. in reality, I'll only talk about one of the characters and remain vague on the story. Now as I said before, the overarching story is good, good plot, good them, good location. The problem is every moment inbetween I can tell you right now that every character is forgettable, I don't even remember their names except Lara, Sam, and Roth and for different reasons. Lara is obvious, she's the main character. Sam is the titular damsel in distress, so you'll remember her name from Lara and any other character screaming out her name. Roth is the only character that seems to actually care about Lara and help her out. Any others don't appear or the spoiler I mentioned earlier, the twist villian who is so obvious you can read it from a mile away though thankfully he gets the deserving death of a twist villian as the actual villian does his thing.

TL:DR of this, Graphics hold up well, gameplay is finicky, story is mediocre with most of the characters being forgettable.
Get the game if it's going cheap, it'll keep you occupied, at it's current price it's also not too bad though you may be better shoving it into your wishlist and waiting on getting it till a sell happens.

I still hold this negative review, not cause action was or wasn't taken but simply cause the action we have seen is only the first part to proving that actual effort will be put into the upkeep of this game. Please keep it up Valve.

Happy 25th Anniversary Half Life! The game that changed how people made games forever and directly inspires me in how I'm planning on making my own games. For a proper review, game's good except Xen but that was just rushed really. Here's to hopefully a half life 3 soon.

This game was promised 2 years of support. I'm a little angry that it hasn't gotten this. However what is making me rewrite this review is that fact that we have finally heard something. The game is still boring without mods, there is still no update or a date of when one will come however there is confirmation that there will be an update and the devs have said something. Time will tell how this comes out, for now just wait before thinking on buying unless there's a mod that will make it worth it for you.

I write this negative review to warn people that this may not be the game you're looking for. It's impressive for it's time but it's age and limitations make it kind of bad. I definitely need more playtime before I say more. But I will say before I go that if you love old action RPG's, this might actually be for you

This is dark souls but they slapped anime on it.... and to be fair, I am enjoying it.

Now to be exact it's not exactly like dark souls, it's easier for one thing, but also it's got this abilities system where you pick and choose different abilities like a magic bolt or adrenaline to boost damage. you also got a class system or "Bloodcode" but your not stuck with one and can change at anytime. Finally character customization is good, not too many face options or clothing but you do get the basics.
