This game is a rollercoaster of emotions. This game came out of nowhere, from a small studio and it gets THAT LITTLE publicity???

Legit best story telling game of the year. It's like a visual novel with actual gameplay, where choices do absolutely matter in the end compared to other games who claim they do. Legit hyped by this studio for their next game or spin-off. Characters have goals and emotions. You can be whoever you want to be, there's character growth management, you can fail you can win, people die, people live it's a gem. You can replay the game and have different outcomes, the story can be changed, situations you experienced can be changed when doing a new playthrough.

Thanks Steam analytics for presenting me this awesome game that I regret not of purchasing full price.

I might've spent 175h since release on it (played around 8-12h a day), and 1hour being in queue. This is so far a great game. Already made some new friends!

Many bugs that still need to be fleshed out (but which game in recent gaming era doesn't have them?)

Community so far is freaking huge due to novelty, yet to see if it'll stay that way or stay healthy.

Grinding is done right, it shouldn't take 4days of playing to reach end game like some think it should.

Endgame: The thing 60% of negative reviews never reached. I've reached it and it's nice, relaxing. PVP endgame tho isn't relaxing, that's hella intense.

Dungeons are satisfying to do, the boss fights are epic as well. (Man do I remember peeing my pants when that boss came back to life when we thought it was over.)

Economy is great, you get enjoyment similar to Tarkov's auction house, anything can be worth something for someone in this world.

The core gameplay looks fun, but the fact that non joystick players can fight joystick players makes it unbalanced sadly. You can straight up see who's using a joystick vs a mouse+keyboard by the way they fly and how they evade.
Most keyboard user will either be flying super slow and miss a lot of shots or be crashing into asteroids and structures.
Someone using a joystick tho has no issue tracking you and hitting it's shots. It's mainly due to the camera system and the somewhat weird throttle.

The customs are nice, the loadout system seems to be pretty balanced, tho I did not really see any difference in dps when changing for the fast cannon on my interceptor.

Most players stick to the X-Wing/Tie Fighter at the moment, I don't know if it's because they are just used to it, or if it's just the best all around ship right now to do pvp.

As long as they don't make a separate match maker for joystick users I can't recommend it sadly.

Forget the negative reviews, only a handful are about them not actually liking the game. 98% of them are clueless people who can't read or troubleshoot an early 2000's game. And fun fact as well, a lot of them have over 30hours of gameplay, I guess they let the game load for 30hrs straight then, or did they make it work and just never thought of removing their bad reviews? (I've seen a guy complain about purchasing this game thinking it was the SWTOR mmorpg... tells you a lot about the negative review quality.)

Rant over, real review.

This game is an iconic classic of Bioware's golden age. The character development, the morality system, voice acting, everything needed to make a good game is there. And the concept of microtransaction wasn't a thing back then, so you won't have features hidden behind a paywall you get the full game.

I finished the game in 30h, knowing already how to finish the game and manage my questline. For someone totally new to this game, it may take you upward of 50+hours. I didn't focus on sidequests at all other than some fun impossible to miss ones.

Companions have side quests as well, to develop their characters backstory and skills.
You can choose who comes with you, or if someone comes with you at all. I personally enjoy having myself Mission and HK-47 as they tend to have rather funny attitudes and comments based on your morality actions and choices.

The interface isn't as bad as some would claim, it's what you can expect from a D&D like game. Haven't seen a single game of that sort revolutionise this concept. You have sidebars for consumables when fighting as well like most mmorpg.

The combat is what you expect of a turn based D&D system. Turn based actions, saves, rolls, resistances etc. You do get tho the nice feeling of fluidity because you can move and the animations make sense so that turns aren't so ''wait before next action'' like.

There's a lot of customisation for how you want to play it. My first playthrough in 2005 was a Sith with lightsabers. My latest playthrough was a soldier using a heavy repeater blaster. (Yes I did beat the lass boss using my blaster only) You can setup scripts for your companions as to how they fight and what actions to take when they fight. You can also level them the way you want.

The story and dialogues tho is what makes this game shine. The game isn't as predictable as you'd see it be in the sequel game. You wanted to get to that point this way? Guess what, the story will not try to force you to follow their wanted path. You always have two or three options in what you do. The characters react to your actions as well, making for some quite funny, sad, and wholesome moments. There's also an option to romance some companions (precursor to many other RPG games). You feel attached to some characters, get annoyed at them, event to the point of hating them. And you can make them suffer for the most part if you do end up hating them.

The game comes in most main languages as well. So fear not about having to play the game in English if it's not your primary language.

The graphics, while not being up to the latest standards, have not aged poorly. It still remains decent and playable. But don't expect the shiny 4k resolution unless you got to some modding.

Talking of modding, this game supports mods, I thoroughly recommend installing the content restoration mod. And the bug fixes ones. There's also many graphics mods to enhance the textures to 4k, reshade settings and presets etc. There's also some mods changing core mechanics. As with most games that support modding, then only get better when you use them.

In conclusion, this game is a jewel of the past, many have nostalgia blasts playing this game. I sure did, I was 8 yrs old when I played this game for the first time back in 2005. Being a lot older now, I can aswell see more of the plot and understand it better. Also makes me questions more some though choices we have to make as the protagonist. I still have things to discover and do in this game, even after a bunch of playtrough. I would give this game an avg lifespan of 40h if you do sidequests, don't know how to progress faster. And up to 60-70h if you do the sidequests, companion stories, and literally struggle with the game's puzzles and mechanics. I'm satisfied and glad that Steam brought back this old classic gem to the newer playerbase.

I got this game as well from Humble, so it was worth it. I played my first skirmish, didn't know much of what I was doing, figured out that you can build towers to protect settlements, alarm the peasants and other things as well. I like that the game is more axed on mobility, and good use of positioning than on a shallow wide array of troops. The trees are limited, the unit choices are limited, but it doesn't come off as bad because it's more of a balance/competitive level aspect. You could make a decent competitive RTS with this game.

The unit battles are kinda wonky when you want to attack a specific unit. Otherwise it's great, there's a charge mechanic and a morale/encirclement mechanic, like in Total War, squad based units like CoH. You get one Hero at the beginning of a match, like in Warhammer Dawn of War, but don't lose it, you can't make another one.

To me it seems to be the Godly child of Total War, CoH and DoW1/2 together. It got me hooked a lot, hyped to play with some friends, it's been a while since I got a good vibe like this with a game, maybe like when CoD Modern Warfare 2 was released and when AC Odyssey released. I recommend this game!

This game when I first saw it wasn't the game I thought it was, but when I started it, the joymeter went to from 10 to 100 in 2secs. It's really refreshing from that kind of games (tug of war), upgrades, combos, ressources, all those adds to this game a nice touch. The concept of using caterpillars is actually pretty cool, the skins are funny at times (like the hippy one), they make look caterpillar like real predators and badass! The levels, well it's a tug of war, what do you expect from a tug of war map? else than a straight line. Bosses are quite long, still not challenging yet (just spam with 125 cost of legs then gg). Sometime challenges for the golden flowers (bonus in missions) are nearly impossible. Available in nearly any possible language (even japanese!) it is really easy to play and learn, I could give this game to a 6years old kid and he could play it easily. Haven't tried the multiplayer yet but I think it's pretty much the same but with all upgrades unlocked.

Overrall i give this game a 9.5/10 would fap again -IGN
Seriously recommend it.
