Hunt: Showdown offers a high-risk, high-reward gameplay with less punishment and difficulty. This game is definitely one of the most underrated FPS out here and one of the best entries in the extraction-shooter genre.

(+) Very satisfying gunplay. The guns are authentic but not realistic. You may need to manually reload every bullet and a lot of guns have slow rate of fire, but this is balanced out by the absence of annoying "realism" and perks that change a gun's handling. Mastering iron sights is also very satisfying.
(+) Attention to detail. Maps/environments are well made, with various paths, look out angles, and even traps. Monsters have different ways to kill them and react differently to the environment.
(+) Good sound design. There is also attention to detail to the types of sounds produced by the player and environment. This is then delivered properly where you know precisely the location of anything making the sound.
(+) Consistent art style and design. The game may have zombies and mutants but character designs (esp. skins) are within the game's time period. Nothing looks "too modern". Some themes may look whacky imo (Beast Hunter DLC), but they take themselves seriously. You won't see any "Fortnite quality" cosmetics.

(~) The game has a "trade" mechanic in PVP where two players landing the killing blow at the same time would result to each players' kill/death. While this mechanic feels fair enough in most fights, it is more frustrating in rare situations (for example, trading as last squad member standing)

(-) Outside of events, there is not much to do in terms of long term progression.
(-) Not enough stats are tracked or visible to the player. MMR is represented only as a star rating system (but under the hood is based on a numerical rating anyway).
(-) Frequent server issues and terrible disconnection issues. It is so difficult to reconnect to an ongoing match. In a game where you lose your whole character when you die, this becomes very frustrating at times.

A note on monetization:
(+) Monetization is non-predatory and stands out in modern GaaS practices. The game does not go from one battlepass to another. When they do, their battlepass is not grindy and does not rely on FOMO tactics.
(+) Battlepass progression is integrated with gameplay mechanics. The points you collect for the battlepass have other uses in-game without being p2w.
(+) Devs are quite generous in terms of rewards with double XP events and Twitch drops. Even the final rewards of the battlepass are free (which in other games cost more or the most difficult to access), while the premium rewards at the halfway point.
(-) Cash shop to buy their premium currency forces you to have leftover currency that you can't purchase given the pricing of cosmetics.

Personally, as a long time Escape from Tarkov player, this is worth getting into. It scratches the hardcore difficulty itch from playing extraction shooters without the harsh punishments that come with it. It's also a good game to have a satisfying cowboy shooter experience.
