Only around 40 minutes to an hour long, but a fun spooky horror game none the less. The unease and claustrophobia start to set in as soon as things start to go awry.

This game is almost playable.

The ship building is pretty good. If you are in for that then you game have hours of fun with it. In the same vein as KSP you learn by making and testing. I would recommend watching a few tutorials and looking up some guides to get some of the 'rules of thumb' so at least you know what is and isn't good ship design. But on the other hand lose that crutch and test things yourself.

I like how the tutorial introduces you to most of the base mechanics, you learn how to control a ship or fleet of ships, how different upgrades effect the performance of your ship. The biggest lesson you learn is that you can't have everything. It's a balancing act of speed, armour, firepower, weight and finances. I think there are a couple of missions where you're playing American Ironclads and ships with horrendous hull designs which aren't great and don't help with learning the game.

But there are a couple of big bugs which are inexcusable, namely progress in the tutorial has been wiped twice now which is deeply frustrating, also my campaign saves disappeared. So I can't say this game is actually playable long term. Also while fighting other ships, guns that are fore and aft seem to struggle to rotate when you turn the ship, failing to target anything despite having a clear shot. Sometimes your torpedoes won't fire despite a ship being within line of sight and in range.

I'm still figuring out how the campaign works in it's entirety, but the menu for your fleet management just doesn't cut it. Your fleet will soon become a list of 50+ ships which you'll have to scroll through trying to work out where all your ships are in the World. On the World map I have had it sometimes where a ship will stop midway along it's journey you set for no reason making it harder to maneuver your fleet around. Lastly when it comes to ship blueprints, it is far to easy to accidentally delete one and not get it back, meaning you won't be able to upgrade ships of that given class later on. I wish there was a folder to put older designs in so you can a least refer to them for continuity sake. It all feels like temporary place holder UI design waiting to be refurbished later on.

All in all it's a classic case of 'by it when it is on offer not at full price'. This game is about 75% the way there to being fully playable, something you could get your teeth sunk into...just not yet.

I played 2000 hours before finally calling it a day. The biggest take away I got is that I almost understand why I am bad and it. Still a classic game, though I dread to think what I could of spent all those hours doing instead. Might of been able to make a start on carving out a future for myself. I'm still the same person, though now with the power apathy I have developed the ability to grow sh*t facial hair in a few days.

I can't recommend this game to anyone who isn't willing to give it the 1000's hours it needs.

I've hit a hard wall at around 4.0-5.0 battle ranking. From purely personal experience, it seems like this is the point where newbies are slaughtered by dedicated players of the game on a regular basis. Also people who are willing and able to spend money on the game to get a minor advantage (premium account, camouflage, free XP to improve vehicles quickly etc) are far more common. Also I find it hard to break even or make a little bit of profit to afford higher ranking tanks and there respective upgrades, so I can't progress even if I wanted to. (I hasten to add I am/was a free to play player, I haven't spent a penny on this game, just my time)

I really want to like this game, and 'get good'. But the bottom line is, I have a skill issue and the battle rank I have got to is too difficult. I don't know the good positions on a given map, I over extend or put myself in a bad defensive positions, I'm too slow to shoot actuality and I can't reliably locate critical areas of a tank to hit. The matchmaker and players are punishing me for it. If I don't get better and most importantly stop having fun, I will put the game to the side and call it quits.

An Update, I gave this game a second chance by going back and trying another Nation's (Germany) tank tech tree a go. And unfortunately the experience was no better. This time I found almost anything you will come up against is more mobile and able to lay there gun on your tank faster than you can even turn your turret to face them. Also the added bonus of facing against players where their tank crews are highly trained/ experienced, you just don't stand a chance. Not to mention, all tanks are tiny. Many can just sit in a bush and dominate a spot, undetected. Half my games end with me lasting 5 minuets tops after loosing two tanks and not gaining enough points to spawn a third time...Riveting game play that I learn nothing from other than don't bother moving forward. Just sit, and wait for the game to end.

Really worth picking up and supporting. The game has a focused goal/ development plan. Love the game play and gun play, feels very realistic. To get the most out of the it i recommend playing with friends, to come up with plans of attack and communicate a time to strike. Map selection is always growing, hopefully see more maps that give long range engagements opportunities. It's very CQC based at the moment, requiring fast reactions but also careful bullet placement.
