Fresh and Innovative

This game is tedious and so so very grindy. There are so many long crafting strings and massive material requirements to get your character to max level. At that point, in the endgame, the content is identical to the early game except with enemies with scaled up stats. There is no sense of skill progression either. It just simply gets boring. Lots of farming to progress and the classes are simple enough to get boring by the time you reach the endgame, likely hundreds of hours later. Maxing a single character without spending money takes an insane amount of time. So if you wanted to max every character..... Well, see ya in a couple thousand hours. Trove very much lacks any feeling of excitement. Progress is for progress' sake and doesn't unlock anything cool or new.

To put it succinctly, the gameplay gets boring, maxing your character is nigh impossible, and the progression is mind numbing grind.

I think that this game is great. The large sandbox levels and arsenal of tools at your disposal allow for fun and creative ways to exploit the AI and eliminate the targets. I know that reads like a line from an advertisement, lol. The first time you load up a level it seems like a daunting maze, but as you learn the patterns of the AI and the paths you can take, many opportunities open up to you. Clearing levels your way feels extremely satisfying. That is not to discount the story-lines that are part of the levels. There are plenty of opportunities to take out targets that are somewhat scripted, but come off as quite comical. Agent 47's cold psychopathy would make him stick out like a sore thumb in any situation, yet the people in the levels don't bat an eye at him. Point is, these levels have great replay value and offer funny semi-scripted events that help flesh out the levels and give them a greater sense of life. I believe that this game offers a lot, and is totally worth picking up. I should note that the way these games have been released is strange and confusing for the consumer, but the quality of the Hitman reboot is so high I think that it is negligible.

This game excels in atmosphere. It is consistently creepy, unnerving and gory. The story is very muddled and awkward, it doesn't make much sense, and it subtracts from the experience to me. On the harder difficulties, this game feels about right with how restricted your access to ammo and supplies are. It is not the best game ever made, certainly, but I think the setting enables the game to have crazy and creative levels that keep it fun all the way through.
