SpeedRunners by DoubleDutch Games is a fast paced action filled volly of excitement. You can play with up to four people (preferably friends) with the main goal of surviving 3 games. You use items scattered on the map and speed boosts in order to achieve this goal. Once someone falls too far behind the other and falls off screeen, the music changes to suspensful music and the screen starts to shrink in size. The last one who stays in the remaining safe area is the victor. Videos can't properly show how intense some games get with a full game of friends.

Let's get into the meat of this review

Story

Truth be told, this game doesn't have too much going for it in the story department. This mode mainly works as a way to get familiar with the controls and to unlock extra character skins to play as in multiplayer. Each final boss has three missions before their 1v1 match. I've only played this gamemode on the hardest difficulty and enjoyed the challenge each boss brought. With a total of four bosses, there were 16 missions to keep your time preoccupied, as well as a decent amount of time that can be used learning the maps, controls, and power ups.

However, this 'Story mode' is more challenges than an actual story. Don't expect too much from this as the main focus of the game is multiplayer.

Multiplayer

Multiplayer is truly where the game shines. I've exlusivly played with 3 other friends when playing this mode. Being able to taunt and talk with friends while playing is a blast. Since we have all played the game together, we are around the same skill level, which results in most of the sudden deaths started from the timer instead of someone dying. The amount of times there have been two people left with a tiny screen, stuck neck and neck and unable to see ahead, have been plentaful and heart pounding.

This however is also one of the games annoyances for me personally. This game shines when you are playing in a full game with three other friends. When playing with less however, the games feel very short and don't pack as much of a hit (although they are still enjoyable). Online with strangers, however, I haven't been able to get myself into. Maybe It's just because I enjoy the company of my friends more, and knowing it's them makes those high moments feel even higher.

I haven't played enough to set a soild opinion of the ranked mode, but that is also there for those who enjoy the more competitive side of the game.

Gameplay

Controls are soild for the most part, but do have issues with more people I've found. The main way you will be getting around (other than running ;p) is via grappling hook on certain ceilings. These normally lead to a second (sometimes third) path that can give the player either a decent lead, items, or boasts to blast ahead. A few items include the hook, which can grab the next player and pull them behind you, the bomb, which you place at your current spot and detonates on a second press, and crates, which you can put down right in front of someone to trip them up.

Very few times, I've found my character double hooking, refusing to jump, or even standing still. Although these issues are far and few in between, it is still a tally against the games otherwise tight controls.

Maps are all varied in design, layout, and theme. In almost all maps, short cuts are availible to give those willing to risk them a needed boost in placement. The starting maps are fairly basic, but as you unlock more and more maps, they do get complex. Still, even on the hardest maps, you'd have a hard time getting lost on where you should go. On top of the maps availible comes the Workshop maps. The community has created some amazing, bizarre (and some horrible) maps that you can play though. Everything from redesigns of maps in game to a Super Smash Brothers Omega stage. These workshop maps shuffle through every now and then so you're not stuck with the same few. You can also rate up maps you enjoy. All in all a very good map selection for hours of fun with friends.

OVERALL SCORE

Speedrunners is fast paced, action filled, and insanly fun. Even with it's few quirks it's still kick butt to sit down for a session with friends. If you have three other friends that would want to play, I'd recommend getting the four pack on a sale, blasting through the story, and playing the hell out of the 4 player mode.

Really nice game. Only problem is if you're like me and none of your friends have it...

EDIT 4.11.20: I was right, the game is so much better with friends.

Way to crap on your community Take Two. It's not like mods are the only thing keeping people playing your game or anything, because if it was, you just stepped in your own ♥♥♥♥.

This brings me back to being a little kid, going with my little brother to the library, getting DVDs of Dragon Ball and playing Humongous Entertainment games on the computers. While the game can be completed in only an hour, It's one of the most nostalgic hours of my life. But, a review isn't based on nostalgia alone. Let us talk about the actual game.

Story
Story wise, Grandma Grouper has lost her Kelp Seeds, which she shares to feed all undersea life. You are Freddi, and with the help of your best friend, Luther, you are tasked with finding the lost 'treasure'. But watch out! The Squid Father and his shark goons are also after the seeds! Talking to, helping, and interacting with the undersea life is the only way to reach your goal, but you better hurry!

While a simple kids story, this game does it exceptionally well. I never once felt interaction was forced. Everyone seemed to know Freddi in some way or another, but that doesn't de-value the interaction. While I did beat the game, I didn't obtain enough sea-urchins to enter the undersea volcano, which will send me back one day to find out its mysteries.

Gameplay
The game plays as you would expect a point-and-click game to play. While you move around the world, you are set to be in one area, while finding things around the world to interact with. It plays fantastically, but at times, the object you are looking for may be too well hidden, and blends into the background a little too easily.

Voice Acting
This is possibly the major fault with the game. While some people are voiced decently (The Eel, Stingray, Pirate), others seem like a very odd choice. For example, giving the Crab a French accent is a little weird, and at times, Freddi would sound disinterested in what is happening. While this isn't such a huge deal, it still takes it out of the experience.
I PERSONALLY give it a pass, solely on the reason this is a childrens game built in 1994. And not just a childrens game, a young childrens game. I just let it pass, but it is a negative point.

OVERALL SCORE
Freddi fish is an awesome game, more so for children and the nostalgic. With a good story, math and mini-games, it's awesome to help a developing mind along.

Yes, it has it's problems, as all games do, but it handles them well, and keeps the whole experience enjoyable.

If I could sum up this game in three words, it'll be, "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ warship!"

This game brings out pure, undying heartbreak. Don't get me wrong, this game is fun to the point of almost addiction, but when you worked so hard for that ship, you grow attached to the people on it, forming a bond that you can never break!

and then giant mantises come onto your ship and kill them all!

This game is totally worth the $10 price, you should get it right away if it ever becomes anything lower from a sale.

PRE 1.2 UPDATE:
This game made me ejaculate so violently and explosively that I blacked out, waking up two weeks later with my house being robbed and my body being stripped down completely bare. The only thing the robbers didn't take was my computer, so I dragged my crusty, naked body over to my desk and started playing Terraria again.

POST 1.2 UPDATE:
Wow. WOW. The game went from amazing, to really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ amazing. They not only added a ton of new content, but also changed the way the game is played, FOR THE BETTER! Although the Wiki is slow to update, I kinda knew what the new items, new actions and new areas were meant to do. Tons, and I mean TONS of new sprites for Zombies, made me stand outside my house at night just to see them all. Rain was also added. This added a whole new feel to the game. There are 2 types of rain, light and heavy. Light you can still enjoy your adventure, going off and fighting slimes, the 'Eye', Skeletron, you will still enjoy adventuring. When it's Heavy however, It counts as night. The world is darker than dark. Zombies(in raincoats), Smiles(with cute little umbrellas) FLYING FISH?!? All come out and try to get you. Add this, with it being day, it will be night by the time it ends, keeping the hordes coming for you. Tons of new content I can't put in this small box, so just GET TERRARIA and enjoy life.

Hotline Miami is a fast paced, crazy, bird-eye view game that took me weeks to master, and I'm still ♥♥♥♥ at it. It's difficult, but in a way that makes you want to beat it even more, instead of wanting to make you quit. Kill EVERYONE! Who keeps calling you, do you like hurting people, and the most important question, Where ARE you right now? Answer these questions with guns, knifes, bottles, swords, or any other thing you can get your hands on! Enjoy this AWESOME game.

This is my favorite game, has been for years since I first played in 2011, and I can not recommend it to people. Not just online, but also to anyone IRL. The community can be great, funny, enjoyable to be in, until they are calling you slurs all game. The game is fun, enjoyable, and well balanced, until a swarm of bots come in and completely ruin that game, and the following 20. Community servers were the backbone of this game and are a huge improvement in both of those issues, but Valve shoveled them to a server browser most people will never see.

Unless you have specific servers you can play on, like Uncletopia servers or the like, you're assured a game plagued by bots, with occasional racists, sexists, homophobes, and transphobes sprinkled throughout. It's a shame since the game itself is AMAZING. Literally "The most fun you can have online" tagline is correct, but that was for a different time. TF2 isn't itself anymore. It probably never will be. I miss the days where hl2.exe crashing was the biggest problem with the game. I miss huge updates that got EVERYONE in the community excited. Those silly blog posts. Maps, weapons, and balances throughout the year. Contracts that weren't the same generic ones for every map, every year.

I'll still play on Uncletopia and other community servers, hop into the yearly Halloween events, and occasionally try to find a game worth playing in matchmaking, but those days where you can play the game for a week straight, having a blast, and it being enjoyable are long gone.

I miss you TF2.

Below are my Original Review + Update

You want F2P ultimate ACTION PACKED AWESOME IN A CAN?!!? Well, we left out the can, BUT THERE IS STILL THE AWESOME! TF2 is one of the best FPS games, not just in the US, not just in the UK, Not just in Antarctica, BUT THE WHOLE WORLD! Your MOTHER wants you to play this game! DO NOT DISAPPOINT HER!

Updated: Nov 21, 2018

While updates now a days are few and far between, I can still count on TF2 to get me in an entertaining game and have fun in it, even after 7+ years of playing it. Plus with community game modes and an unholy amount of possible loadout choices, it's still fun. Except for one thing...

hl2.exe has stopped working
