So after finishing the game I have to rewrite the review a bit.
Before finishing the game and editing this review I did not recommend this game.
But now after having actual fun in the game, because of the balancing changes the devs have made, I do recommend to buy the game. If you enjoy soulslikes and want something bit, but not too different, this is the game. But if you are feeling uncertain wait for sales.
Lets get the positive sides out of the way first.
Combat is fun mix of Sekiro and souls. Faster than souls making it lower risk lower reward kind of gameplay. Blocking and parrying are the same button making defensive gameplay Sekiro like.
Co-op is done great. Summon a friend and play until you feel like stopping. No resummons needed despite deaths or boss kills.
Dev team listens to feedback and actively fix and balance the game.
-------------------------------------------------------
Then to the past negatives.
Starting with the combat. The amount of forward momentum before was way too high and has since been apparently toned down. Much better now than it was before.
Then there is amount of basic enemies in non-umbral world. The amount of enemies have been toned down with aggro and follow ranges making the game much less hairloss inducing ragebait and more into skillbased and tactical combat encounter game.
Special mention of the negatives goes to PvP connectivity. Before it was nigh unplayable due lag and huge amounts of desync with the forward momentum on attacks. Those things have been fixed and PvP has turned into something much more enjoyable. Only problem with it being the amount of spells that can be spammed with little to no counter. I'm looking at you Orius' Judgement.
-------------------------------------------------------
Then to the still negatives.
Hit boxes. Oh those great hitboxes that either start before the move is being done, hits much larger area that is visually shown, or being so large it hits the back of the character making blocking and outspacing unreliable against those certain attacks. I did find a way (The ungabunga trade way) to deal with those so it became less of a problem further down the line.
There is some weird stuff going with the flame dogs breaths and some spray attacks going trough solid walls.
Don't know if it is only me or what but for some reason camera control on controller is absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Horizontal and vertical movement is fine but diagonal movement some reason multiplies the speed making it still really janky and jarring.

First review was written 10h into game as a negative do not buy.
Updated version at 50ish hours in and after completing the game.

So... I've played a few hours and I absolutely love the game. 9,5/10 Would recommend and have recommended to everyone.

But first, lets get the negatives out of the way. Last boss... It was bit of a letdown for me after all the bosses leading up to it. It is of course my opinion and yours may or will vary. And some of the Legacy dungeons felt really short, even when fully exploring them.

Rest of the game is best fromsoft has ever produced. Open world and exploring feel amazing and is recommended, but not necessary if you don't mind missing epic content, or are either a god in souls games or willing to slam your head at the brick wall until smarter one gives up, like true souls player. Yes there are early game bosses recycled to mobs and minibosses but everything feel like they belong there and if you don't explore you won't even know that =)
Combat is basic souls style, time your dodges, and slap the creature trying to slap you. Ashes of War make customizability of almost every weapon feel fun and gamestyle altering. No matter how you like to play you will find something worth your time. Even if you like to hide behind your shield, it is more viable than ever.

I have not yet delved too much into PvP of Elden Ring. But the few hours I've invaded people make the game feel familiar to other souls titles pvp, just a tad bit faster with very very few confirmed combos. Not counting in cheesiest of strats Also you only invade co-opping players due solo players not being able to be invaded unless they use certain item that drops from a certain npc in a certain location.

But with all that said I shall go back to get gud and enjoy the game.
