Why you should at least engage in the DPS meta:

Preface: meta and tryhards existed long before you were even born and they exited in MH before you even picked up the franchise. get off your high horse you single-digit DPS deadweight.

The meta, or more specifically MHRise meta is more akin to Genshin meta where it's minimum amount of investment to get maximum possible rewards (in this case the reward is damage output)

"But why?" you ask "I already kill monsters with my very comfy build"

The answer is "I said engage in dps meta" not "copy it deco for deco, armor piece for armor piece"
Engaging in the meta will help you functionally deal more dps just by knowing what the "CORE" skills are and what to cut.

I have met some meta-avoiding players and they're the kind of players that think load shells affects bow coating load speed... even though the skill itself says it only affects gunlance and chargeblade... and then they placed the blame on 3rd party sources that have not changed the wording at all, blaming other people for their own misunderstanding

But I digress...

Why do you need to know the core skills? Because some skills have terrible scaling and are only worth 1 point while there are some other skills don't directly increase dps but they do increase DPS.

For example, focus for GS and Hammer lets you charge faster, thereby letting out attacks faster which is basically attack speed. Stamina surge and constitution on bow lets you fire more often and thereby deal damage more often. Recoil & reload speed for guns lets you shoot faster. You *can* run weapons without these types of skills but that would be like running a marathon without shoes.

those damage builds also provide a thing to work towards with minimal investment in time and energy. Don't you hunters want to spend more time hunting monsters? You literally can physically hunt more often if you know what to build for and clear hunts faster.

"But im fine with my hunts that take 10-30 minutes" sure, but at that point don't get mad in SOS if someone kills the monster in under 10 minutes making you irrelevant because they spent more time on their gear and their skills than you.

If you're like the MH twitter people that say they dont like it if a hunt is under 10 minutes while they're blundering around, and then get mad at the people who took the time to master their craft instead of getting mad at yourself for being bad, then I suggest following one of the best unwritten rules of life.

Spend that time with people who have the same goals as you. When playing MH or any game for that matter, make some friends who play the same way you do. Sure it might have an echo chamber effect, but don't you want to be happy? Don't you deserve to be happy more than other people? Don't you deserve to be a well respected member of your own tiny community? Other people are just wrong right? You always have to be correct, right? You're the wisest and smartest person you know right, so it makes sense for you to be very important right? You're not at fault, the world is at fault!
