This product is not just a game. It is a shocking, grotesque, horrific experience, that I whole-heartedly recommend.
As any and all content besides basic gameplay is spoilers, and is something you truly should experience yourself, I'll reference the tone and atmosphere more.
The general tone is one of a horrific discovery, and is perfectly cemented in gameplay. Show don't tell, something this game has mastered. If there is to be a sequel, I could only hope they follow this idea of creation. The Show Don't Tell model is incredibly aided by it's simplistic gameplay and story, which ends in a horrifying conclusion and boss fight.
I love this game so much, not because I can't stop playing, but because I can't stop thinking about it.
This game only needs 20-45 minutes (depending on how good you are at it) to tell a story that leaves you shaking, and asking questions about everything you've seen. "What?" "How?" "Why?"
This game leaves a lasting impression, a very dark one, and there are so many good parts, so many great reveals, but my favorite is the very last.
After the boss, you, the frog, swim back to the top of the lake, and resurface, alongside those others you chose to help along the way. This, to me, is a light at the end of the tunnel, a message of hope, and a release from the horrific tale that was told, and just thinking about it makes me tear up.
In conclusion, this game doesn't need flashy visuals, a long run time, complicated or unintuitive mechanics to tell a deep, memorable story. This game knows exactly what it is.
And I couldn't be happier with it.
