Frequently Asked Questions (Noone actually cares, but I'll tell you anyways):
Q: Why do you have 4+ hours in most game you own?
A: Because I use(d) idle programs to farm trading cards.

Q: Can I add you with my private profile?
A: No, not really, I despise private profiles since I've had negative experiences with them in the past. Try commenting with a really good reason before you do though, I might just accept.

Q: Where does the name "Beggar Soldier" come from?
A: The idea originated from Genowhirl's TF2 'OC' at the time called "New Weapons Soldier" and I thought to myself at one point... why not take up that persona and make it somewhat my own? It was an interesting era for me for sure and I enjoyed it up until the point of losing my first and last TF2 unusual after I stupidly lost it. After the scam incident, I gave up on the whole idea and moved on. The name "Beggar Soldier" came to me because of two ideas. One as New Weapons Soldier was always begging for more new weapons to come to TF2. The second idea was, that I felt hella broke at the time. Even though I'm done with that... the name kinda grew on me and I chose to pretty much stick with it. Yeah that's pretty much it, it's a crazy story I know.

Persona 5 Tactica is yet another spin-off of Persona 5, but this time around it is a tactical turn-based game hence the name. The story takes place between Persona 5 (also Royal) and Persona 5 Strikers. The Phantom Thieves get transported to another metaverse, in which they find themselves in Kingdoms and their tyrannic rulers and it is up to them to bring revolution to these worlds.

"If you want peace, prepare for war."

Pros:
  • As always, the opening is damn good. Revolution in your Heart captures the game's genre and sets up its theme and narrative exceptionally well.
  • The story is quite interesting, it is still about standing up to yourself and to firmly hold onto your desires, but in a revolution kind of way. This spin-off also introduces many new characters that are well-written. Especially Erina and Toshiro
  • As you progress throughout the story, animated cutscenes will play that can be either 3D or 2D, both which look really good thanks to the unique artstyle.
  • A unique chibi-like artstyle that really makes this spin-off stand out from the rest.
  • You can still choose between the English or Japanese dub! Always a nice option to have. I of course played with the Japanese dub!
  • The soundtrack wasn't the most prominent one, but there are still some absolute bangers to be heard here!
  • Instead of palace rulers and monarchs, there are tyrants who keep a whole world in check. It is up to the Phantom Thieves and the rebels to start a revolution.
  • The gameplay loop is actually fun, it's an interesting take on the tactical genre, since it spices things up by having mechanics from the mainline games such as summoning Personas, extra unique abilities, One More (extra move) upon dealing critical damage and a new mechanic that replaces all out attacks with a so called Triple Threat (Since you can only have 3 members selected) by which you can form a triangle with your party members and unleash a powerful attack in its radius.
  • In the Velvet Room, fusing Personas are really streamlined, but you can also create new weapons that may afflict the enemy with an ailment by using certain personas for their fusings. The weapons you can make also look pretty good!
  • Every character has a skill tree, that is pretty straightforward to be fair, not much to be said about it.
  • You can replay each mission from the menu if you are striving to complete each and every challenge a mission can impose.
  • Everyone in your team gets to have a Sub-Persona, which practically means you can assign an additional Persona to anyone in your team, which I found really neat! Has to be noted that Ren can only have one Sub-Persona as well.
  • The UI is as charming as always in Persona games, it has its own unique look and it is very easy to navigate!
  • You can view every image, videos and read about characters in the Report menu. I love this feature in every Persona game. Upon completing the game, you also unlock concept arts to adore! Same applies to the DLC! Really good stuff.
  • New Game+
  • Steam Achievements, Trading Cards etc.

Neutral:
  • I did not really like the fact that most of the dialogues were done in a visual novel way with almost only static images and a shaking background sometimes. Since ATLUS asks 60€ for the game itself, it can feel rather cheap and lazy. It would have been much more pleasing if the whole game was somewhat animated even if just with dynamic animations. It did look great during cutscenes and when being at the hideout even if they were just looped animations.
  • Some quests have a requirement to do the entire thing in just one turn, which at first sounded like a neat idea, but it has been done several times throughout and felt quite repetitive without much action happening.
  • While the soundtrack itself was great, some didn't really come through.
  • The fusion of Personas felt dumbed down, since Personas can no longer have multiple skills, but only two. However considering the nature of the game, it's understandable.
  • I played the entire game on Hard difficulty, but it still felt somewhat easy. I didn't mind this, but some players might.
  • The game can get quite repetitive, because when you play through half of the game, there won't be newer enemy types anymore for example.

Cons:
  • Sub-Personas are just floating .png images that are also quite pixelated. During gameplay, when you summon them they do not even appear, but I do believe that because of the insane price tag, ATLUS could have easily made all of those personas in the Chibi-like artstyle, they definitely had the budget for it.
  • I'm not really a fan of loading up a save file just to access the Report menu where I could check the images, videos and concept arts. After I finished the game I had to practically rush the first 10-15 minutes on NG+ just to finally have access to them all. It should be available in the main menu itself.
  • The pricing. There is no reason for this game to be 60€. ATLUS even cut corners as I've mentioned previously. There are also DLCs that make this even more infuriating.

Tips:
  • The protagonist's canon name is still Ren Amamiya

Interestingly enough, this game was made using the Unity engine, which I found extremely surprising.

8/10 To be fair, even with all the flaws Tactica has, I still enjoyed my time with the game throughout as I wanted to spend more time with my beloved Phantom Thieves, although sometimes the story felt dragged out. The gameplay itself was pretty good I liked the flow of it, the soundtrack was pretty good as well and more screentime of beloved characters is what makes Tactica an interesting and fun experience for me.

Even so, I just cannot recommend this game at full price. Definitely wait for a sale if you do think of getting Persona 5 Tactica!

Nier truly surprised me. I first played it expecting nothing, but it became one of my all time favorites games. I really hope you can enjoy it as much as I did! :shadowheartlaugh:
