I think a lot of the game's praise comes from how it's multiplayer is implemented. With that said, I ran into one other player during my run who was just sitting and then left. You kind of need to get lucky to enjoy the game to it's fullest I think. The game is still great if you play through all of it alone though. Really pretty visuals and music. when you walk in the sand you make a trail behind you and I think it really adds a lot and makes you actually feel like you're walking somewhere and interacting with this world instead of just moving along a video game floor. It's a short game, but it's better for it. The game's about the length of a movie so it's really easy to play through the whole thing in a single sitting. Great game overall, definitely worth playing.

Really great tool. Got it for Elite Dangerous and it really adds a whole new layer of immersion. This program goes wayyy beyond just that though. You can use this for virtually anything. The only limits are your ability to write new commands and your imagination.

Best movement based shooter I've played. Fantastic campaign and multiplayer. If you like fast paced gameplay definitely check this game out.

Alright, this is going to be a long one.
TLDR: a phenomenal game that anyone remotely into platformers and/or Metroidvanias should play.

With that being said, here are my thoughts...

I'm going to split this into a few segments since I have so much to say about the game.

The Story
The story of Ori is quite simple, the forest is dead and you need to save it. The reason I like the story so much though is because of the character interactions. The game opens with one of the most beautiful and touching prologues ever, and the only dialogue is some brief narration by the Spirit Tree. Other than that, there's not a single word of dialogue spoken in this game other than animal noises; and the fact that the game can pull off such a heartfelt and emotional story that is honestly better than most triple A games today really shows the power of show don't tell. This leads me to my next segment, the Presentation.

The Presentation
Holy ♥♥♥♥ does this game look beautiful. The level of detail everything has is absolutely mind-blowing. This game is simply a joy to look at. Everything from the backgrounds to the characters are so fluid and smooth and detailed I have a hard time wrapping my head around how such a small team of people made a game that looks this amazing. The only issue I have with the visuals is the motion blur. It looks really bad but thankfully, you can turn it off. On top of amazing visuals, the game also has a great soundtrack. The soundtrack is designed to be atmospheric and succeeds tremendously. when you enter a new area, the music perfectly embodies the emotions you're feeling and it's great songs go from sad and depressing to optimistic to straight up epic and everything in between. Seriously a great soundtrack. But this game doesn't just look and sound good, it plays fantastically as well.

The Gameplay
The movement in this game is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ smooth and I love it so much. Seriously some of the best movement in any Metroidvania I've played. Since it's a Metroidvania, there's a slew of powerups and abilities. Almost all of them are unique and designed to complement each other very nicely, and the bash ability is one of the best-designed game mechanics I've ever seen. The level design is so clever and brilliant as well. When you enter a new area, you don't realize that you can't get out of said area until you come across a powerup that allows you to leave. On top of this, the level design is super clever in the sense that there's more than one way to get to an area or obtain a secret. There's the obvious way most people would do, and there's the way that rewards the player for thinking outside the box and doping things in clever ways. It's something I really appreciate about this game. The game respects your intelligence. Another thing that meant a lot to a completionist like me: you can't miss anything and not be able to pick it up later. Some Metroidvanias have this issue where if you miss an item you won't be able to pick it up. Thankfully, this game does not have that problem. The game has an amazing pace to it; juggling slower puzzle-based moments with breakneck speed escape sequences. And with the exception of one area, the game never get's any of it wrong. The game really excels when you're going fast; with some of the best and most satisfying movement ever. The puzzles are also great too; they really test your understanding of the game mechanics and are super clever. Everything feels really rewarding in this game. There are plenty of moments that make you feel super clever even though it's really the developer guiding you along a path. The game is challenging too. I wouldn't say its too difficult but it's definitely no cakewalk. I died over 500 times in my first playthrough. My only complaint with the gameplay is that some of the deaths can be a bit cheap. Like instant kill lasers or crushers that kill you instantly. Most of the time you can't even see them coming. The game is pretty replayable too, with a bunch of achievements and different difficulty modes. But a large reason the game is so replayable is simply that it's so damn good.

Conclusion
A masterpiece that absolutely everyone that's into Metroidvanias and/or platformers should play. Almost everything in this game is executed flawlessly and is a sheer joy to playthrough. This game is a perfect example of Video Games as art. 9.5/10
