awful game

An amazing game, which is exactly what I expected from Devolver Digital. I came into this thinking it was a clever card game with some interesting puzzles along the way, naively forgetting that I was playing a Devolver Digital game. Every time I completed an act and moved to the next one, I had to question whether I was even playing the same game. While the story didn't make much sense in the beginning, the grounding element of the cards made each unfamiliarity seem acceptable. The hints of a bigger story line being played out crept in the background while you were forced to focus on the next card. Then, before you knew it, the real story hits you and immerses you even more. From the vast variety of music that always fits the scene, interesting mechanics that are exciting to use, and need for strategic thinking to the unique boss fights, rewarding puzzles, and a story to tie it all together: this game is the poster child for what can be done with true creativity and the proper resources.

Bought game or $30, played mediocre game, game now free with amazon prime, sad.
