If you're like me, you're chasing the dragon of dopamine that we used to get while playing video games as a kid. Not sure if it's a possible itch to satisfy, but this game is the closest thing I've found in that direction.

I couldn't get past the steep learning curve at first and to be honest there is MUCH I haven't looked into at all yet in this game, not to mention the seemingly infinite combination of entities to encounter in the world. There are many good tutorial videos on YouTube, just be sure to sort by the most recent ones.

Switching between Adventure mode and Fortress mode while playing the same world and letting history develop seems to be the best method of play to me, even if the mode is incomplete.

The improvements in this game as far as city building/simulation far outweigh the current cons. I'd give it a 3.5/5 stars. When/if the game is updated to include missing features from the previous game, for free, 4.5 stars. If they address performance issues on top of that, 5 stars. As is, I am enjoying this game more than vanilla/heavily modded original.

Pros:
- More realistic scaling
- Improved traffic simulation (Smart AI/management of turns/etc)
- Industry simulation (supply/demand of various goods/services)
- Graphics (Building models improved/no ugly vans)
- Services (Upgrading buildings as needed, more realistic ranges, etc, assignable to districts, etc)

Cons:
- Performance is bad ***
- No bicycles yet
- No bus lanes

*** even on my laptop with an RTX 4080M, but I don't find it an issue in this genre. I actually just found I kind of prefer putting my laptop in Silent mode and getting 15-20fps over letting the fans run and getting 35-45fps with fans running high. This is at high graphics settings with medium LOD, disabled motion blur, medium animation, disabled depth of field

I plan on putting many more hours into this game but I wanted to leave a review countering the guy complaining the game is too hard... You're a drone operator. Typos matter, you need to build skill, or build aliases to help you avoid errors under pressure. There is a reason you are alone. If the threat was easy that would not be logical.

First off, the reviews about the narrator are irrelevant. You can adjust his frequency in the audio settings, but he doesn't bother me.

Second, this game is a single player game, certain systems do not need to be designed flawlessly, it is what you make of it. If you want to exploit the combat system by running around and gunning you can do that, but if you want to feel skilled/rewarded then you can play as it was intended. You can choose to bash enemies with the same attack over and over, or you can switch weapons/use all of the different combos and gain access to your super abilities. I don't understand the people complaining about the way they are choosing to play the game.

Now that that is out of the way, the world is beautifully designed. There is so much to do, so much to see. You don't get that copy/paste feel that a lot of other games put off. You are constantly finding new loot and things to do, constantly gaining abilities. This is a game I'm excited to replay with NewGame+ as well as with different character/play style.

My only gripe with the game is some performance issues, I have a GTX 1660 TI bottlenecking performance at around 60FPS max settings, but sometimes it dips for seemingly no reason. The i5-9600K hovers around 50% utilization so it is plenty for this game. Maybe there will be some performance improvements in future patches.

I also hope that they add more content in the future in either DLC or for hopefully free, more quests/map expansions would be very fun/help improve replayability, but only if it is as well done as the main content of the game.

If you read the description of this game you see that it, well isn't really a game. It's more of an observation type thingy. I like to leave it open on my second monitor and read the thoughts and watch the mountain change. It's only 99 cents so I can't say that it isn't worth it. You can also play the piano (I think it's a piano) which if you play around enough, or use google, can do some different things to your mountain.

Protip, if you like your mountain and are ever in impending annihalation, spam the piano.

Early Access Review
Amazing game, great graphics, great gameplay, huge map, and it's only in Alpha! You can't forget that it's in Alpha because there is still a lot that needs to be done but you can still get hours of fun out of the game now!

This game is nothing like your generic FPS. It is a more realistic team based FPS where the goal isn't kills, but getting the objectives. The game has very nice graphics for running in the Source Engine as well. If this game was $30 I would still buy and reccomend it, so for this low price of $15 you should definitely get it! There is also a variety of game modes to keep you entertained, some more focused on objectives and teamwork then others.
