I love puzzle games, and some of the puzzles in Myst are really cool, but I honestly can't recommend this game because its age really shows. Most of my problems with the game come from the fact that it is such an old game.

For starters, the audio quality is abysmal. Almost all the sound effects are extremely loud and unpleasant. And when characters talk, even when it's not muffled by static, I can barely tell what they're saying, which is a big problem when the information they give is vital to beating the game and understanding the story.

Secondly, so many things have really long animations that you have to sit through multiple times each, with nothing to do while you wait. And if you mess something up (which isn't uncommon), you'll likely have to watch them all over again, wasting a lot of time, which feels terrible. A lot of this is caused by ridiculous amounts of forced backtracking and trial-and-error.

And third, this may just be me, but I found that every time I was stumped it was entirely because I didn't see the thing I was supposed to click on because the graphics are so low-res and dark. And while I think some of the puzzles are kinda interesting, almost all of them have frankly really poor, outdated design in my opinion, and don't feel very satisfying to solve compared to other similar games I've played.

Also, I just don't like the point-and-click style controls very much.
