The game is not a remake, it's a remaster version of the original 2007 game.
This game takes you back to the good ol' ps2 era with it's feels, gameplay and of course - the rich story.
It's no surprise this game reminds me so much of Kingdom Hearts, since it's from the same era and also from the great Tetsuya Nomura.

The best thing about this game is it's story - it's rich in character development, alongside building and expending upon the world of Gaia.
You get to know each NPC and really care for them.

The gameplay itself is pretty straight forward and nothing too complicated, and you get OP really fast.
The main "sthik" of the gameplay is the missions - everytime you are at a save point you can go on these missions, which you unlock by progressing the main story and they are the main key in progressing you leveling, spells, skills and items.
This is also the home to the only real challenging parts of the game (especially the last boss of these missions, which took me a whooping total of 30 pheonix dawn to use in order to beat!!)

So sit back, go back to 2007 and enjoy the nostalgia pour on you as you chill with this game (and a kickass metal OST)

This game is a huge fan service to all FF fans, old ones and newcomers as one.
This remake not only improves in graphics, but expands on each character's relations.

PROS:
- Improved graphics and quality of life features
- Great fighting system and mechanics
- Great boss fights and challenges
- Great post game content
- Amazing DLC

CONS:
- Fairly linear for most parts
- Enemies repeat themselves
- Some cutscenes are super slow (there's a X-times fast forward feature, so semi-con)

If your'e looking for a fun, somewhat grindy classic JRPG experience - this is the game for you.
It expends so much on the classic (first part of it, at least), mainly on lore, character focus and combat capabilities, while not skipping good materia and summons from the old school version.

I also highly recommend the DLC, as you get to experience Luffy! (And getting to know her in a charming way)

I'm a long time Ratchet & Clank fan, and in general - this is a solid game.
I'll start with the bad:
The game is short, and easy. I played on the hardest difficulty and the enemies just takes longer to beat, but nothing to bad.
The game can be finished in about 10 hours or so, 15 with all the extras and upgrading all the weapons (although there isn't really any award for any hard work in this game, the achievements are also bare minimum and gives everyone a chance at 100% completion).
And the worst thing (in my humble opinion) - you almost rarely play as Ratchet.

The different dimensions gimmick is cute in the story and little of the traversal, but aside from that doesn't really have any impact on the gameplay itself - beside being an excuse to play as a different Lombax.

Rivet plays the same as Ratchet, but it's not the same for a simple factor related to what I mentioned before - the game is too short! We don't have time to explore any character's real unique "story". I don't care about any of the characters we meet along the way as I did in the previous games. There are no side stories and learning about the world and it's inhabitants besides an info bot with a short dialog about the planet were at, at the moment.

This leads me to the next bad experience - the planets are super small. Every Ratchet & Clank game had huge planets to explore and reasons to back-track to when receiving new upgrades, in this game you can get all unlockables in the first time you are in a planet (except a planet or two).
Also finding all unlockables is super easy, as the map shows everything from the get-go.

The weapons are cute, but I felt like missing a lot of the old school classics (where are my sheeps?!)
When finishing the game, you can play in a New Game + mode the is supposed to be difficult (and in classic Ratchet & Clank fashion - showcases Omega weapons + 2 new weapons you can now purchase, for free for some reason) this is a shame that the main difficulty is so easy, that this version is just "more health" to enemies and making them hit you more as this doesn't add any value to experiencing the game again without any new curve.

Now that I have finished my rant - to the good parts:
The story finally picks up from the "cliff hanger" we had in the last game where clank fixed the Dimentionator, so it's nice following up on whats happening.
The gameplay is smooth, really smooth - everything from flipping around, to just platforming, to using the hover boots and the transition between everything - feels really good.

They improved on a lot of quality-of-life things in the game, and the use of the PS5's haptic feedback is a nice touch (half pressing the trigger vs fully pressing it involved into uniqueness of each weapon).

The weapons, although not many, over great variety and the only upside of playing the hardest difficulty is that I felt like I really had to use each weapon on every combat.

The graphics are also really great, from the fur on Ratchet and Rivet to the particles and the world around you - Insomniac really showcases a frontline Playstation franchise to the fullest here.

All in all, it's a short fun experience. It's cute for long time fans, especially on the nostalgic side, but I do think this game is targeted to a wider audience that makes the story too shallow and it's still too short for my taste.

Still recommending it, as it's a short experience that can be fun to go through.

This game feels like a PS2 game from a bygone era, and in a good way.
It's a classic linear story separated to segmented levels with a bit of side routes to explore to find extra collectables and of course having to complete the game to return and find all of the collectibles on each level - that is a classic PS2 game masterpiece and this game loop returned me to the good old days when you could play a 5-10 hour long story, for possible hundred of hours.
The gameplay gimic is what makes this game so special (alongside the humor and cute story, with stylish cartoonish graphics, that also reminds me of the PS2 era)
It's not just a combo-based hack n' slash - it's a RHYTHM based combo-based hack n' slash, and this gimic makes me actually move while playing to the, and I have to give them credit, AMAZING song tracks of the game, lending each combo feels right, and doing everything on beat is just satisfying.

The game mods unlocked after beating the game are great -
1. The obvious one - you can replay each level with your final set of skills on any difficulty you desire (also allowing you to collect all the things you have to backtrack in order to get)
2. A battle tower gimic, time-based gameplay, on each succesful hit you gain more time and have to reach the top of the tower (and yyes, this includes boss fights)
3. A "BPM" run - you start with the regular gameplay speed, and the BPM (the actual rhythm speed) is increased as you go
4. A fricking rouguelike! Yes, you start with zero abilities and upgrades and choose random ones on each wave

These are a great additions of content for an already complete game

I'm a long time gamer, and only a few games made me actually tear up by the story - this is one of those gems.
The story is top tier, each character you meet is the MC of it's own journey and you help him, not just generic NPCs that spawn and help you progress your story. The build up of the skills and abilities is great and it leading me up to the gameplay itself - WOW!
To say this game feel smooth AF would be an understatement, you just feel awesome all the time - weather you choose stealth, or combat based approached (or mix them) - the gameplay feels just RIGHT.
The graphics are also one of the best I've seen, I stopped to take a photo / enter photo-mode at least twice per session.

After I've finished the game 100% including the DLC, I can say that this is defenitly one of the best games I have ever played, and sucker punch delivered again - big time
