Please don't harrass Arrowhead devs, we want to make this game the best it can be, not bully the devs. I have some points of critique that I believe are worth noting for the longevity of this game

While the PSN situation has been thankfully solved, (EDIT: It is still not available to purchase in any region without psn, while the devs have promised to try and resolve this, until then it remains an issue.) the game still suffers from a number of issues regarding bugs and balance, and while I had the patience and did my best to understand prior to now, I no longer have that kind of tolerance especially from management regarding reasoning towards balance and/or decisions on features.

I believe there are core problems with regards to longevity that I believe need addressing before they snowball into something much worse.
Points include:

-Very strict caps on resources and the continued increase in price for future upgrades as opposed to allowing for people to save up and be rewarded for their hard work when new updates and upgrades arrive.

-A lack of meaningful rewards for missions such as elimination, defense, etc. after around level 40 when requisition is no longer usable and only common samples give diminishing return.

-Repetitive arsenal that feels too overtuned for the genre of game as well as updates that seem to target popular builds rather than build up other strategies.

-Lack of consistency and transparency with regards to new content and updates/patches. (I am not requesting a roadmap but would like some more information on planned feature additions and at least more information regarding bug fixes for items that have been troubled since launch)

-Premium war-bonds asking $10 for not enough varied content along with making the grind grow exponentially as the only new base load out content so far has been locked to paid* war bonds with no signs of a future free one in sight. (Note this is not a criticism on the amount or frequency but rather the value of said content and the lack of information regarding other sources of content and their schedules)

-A lack of options for mission types and a confusing decision to remove mission types from the game when their associated major order is complete while the game is lacking on mission variety. (It may not make logical sense for them to remain however as a player who enjoyed missions such as termicide control towers I find it confusing that so much work would be locked away for such a flimsy reason of it doesn’t make sense in the story)

-Finally the questionable decision to lock enemies and resources behind higher difficulties. As someone who has played their fair share of 7-9s I appreciate the intention and requirement for teamwork, but as someone who also enjoys playing solo and isn’t interested in hopping into quick play I find it disappointing that I can’t earn anything higher than common samples at even a reduced rate on 1-3 when I would rather not try and sweat it out. It is the same for enemy’s like bile titans and factory striders where it would be nice to see them more on lower difficulties instead of just mission types where we can experience these new threats in more relaxed engagements that might also make the issues with them less immediately noticeable and annoying. I hate to compare but as an avid deep rock player I appreciate being able to have the choice between fighting to the death for immense rewards or just popping on for a quick session where I choose a lower difficulty but still experience and earn the same prize, just a smaller quantity. With Helldivers numerous currencies I see no reason why it couldn’t be the same.

Conclusion, I have enjoyed the Helldivers games since I played the first one with my buddies just a couple years ago, and the second one has been a blast for a sizable amount of time. That being said the points I outlined here are why I and I believe others are struggling to find continued enjoyment, not to mention how difficult it can be to encourage new players to join with the exponentially increasing grind. I want this game to succeed and I believe in Arrowhead as a studio, it was awesome to see them manage to push back against Sony’s decision and I want to see this game continue to succeed, I can’t recommend for now but I hope I will be able to soon. We as a community have seen our capabilities, and I hope we can use them to offer constructive feedback, I hope that is what I have done.

(EDIT: In addendum, as of the most recent patch, a new faction has been added and weapon balance is in a much better place. Unfortunately progression has only suffered further from a lack of any meaningful change to it's speed and decisions such as locking strategems in warbonds and putting weapons in the superstore. With the arrival of the newest crossover with Killzone 2 being all but officially confirmed to have been a 1000 SC warbond prior to then becoming a 2000+ SC store collection that will rotate out before most players even get close to affording, the content delivery, grind and monetization systems have reached a breaking point and need a restructuring from a gameplay, ui and ux standpoint effective immediately. This is yet another unfortunate torching of good will from Arrowhead Management or Sony, and I feel sad for all the devs who will no doubt be put on blast for a decision that wasn't theirs.)

Thank you for reading, and I hope you found it helpful.

Helldivers 2 might be absolutely worth it down the road
