Some questionable changes have been made along with all the improvements. I feel that forcing body stashing to be lethal was unnecessary. We know that the code is there for non-lethal options. We used to have them. Why take them out? Because there was a coding conflict with one mission, so rather than fix that, you disabled non-lethal? Purely a RP thing, I know.

Played many months after release and it's still pretty buggy. It's supposed to have a Friend's Pass so someone can play with you, but neither of us could get it working, so we just bought two copies. Our character's positions were often not reflected well in the other player's game (I was upstairs, still appearing downstairs on his game, causing him to wait for me and us getting separated.) Sometimes one of us could no longer interact and we just had to restart. Killer changes positions in a way that doesn't make sense, sometimes appearing in two places at once while we're in different parts of the house. The game is also kind of flat compared to the twists and discoveries of the last titles.

Terrible final act. Just boring gory and neverending. Had to employ the skip button liberally because scenes weren't going anywhere. Not even going to get the other endings. I don't care where this story goes. It jumped the rails and lost all the cerebral tension it was building in favor of blood and anime sword fights.

This negative review is in regards to the Solo scenario DLC. It is incorrectly implemented and I do not have hopes of it being fixed. Particularly the Brute and Mindthief scenarios clearly state the enemies should be one level lower than regular in the boardgame documentation, but the game here just ignores that, making the scenarios go from difficult to unwinnable. Secondly, the Saw character has a glitched reward for his mission that does not work.

Other problems outside DLC are rampant too. Characters who die return to life in road events because the game can't be bothered to follow instructions. Glitches and crashes are common. Lazy version of a great board game.

Monsters are annoying instead of scary and meaningless choices, but a worthwhile game for the story and atmosphere.

While I liked the concept of the game and it is presented very nicely, I cannot recommend the game based on the amount of randomization. Do you have a character in mind you want to create? Maybe you want to be blond because you are in real life? Or study hard and ace all your exams? Make a super athlete? Well you better hope the game decides to give you a chance at those stats, because you might just as likely roll a bunch of Empathy and Charm nodes instead. Those super nodes are going to raise your stats every turn, so if you don't roll what you want early, you're going to end up being a completely different person.

Same applies to your friends. After all, you can only ever meet three people in your 18 years of life. Maybe you want to play into your athletic plans and hang with the Jock and Cheerleader (you know, like cliches in school). Nope, you rolled the introverted Musician and he'll be one of your only friends/romantic partners your whole life. Unless you make some wrong decisions talking to him and lose him, and then there's no replacing him. Better get a walkthrough and stick to your predestined path.

Everything is random. What stats you have the opportunity to raise, what people you can befriend, what demands your parents will make of you. It's more like you're just watching the computer play and deciding if you want to make the character it's making or rail against destiny and weaken yourself.

Interesting but overhyped and not worth the hefty pricetag.
