TL;DR New Players Stay Away from this game unless you are willing to pay around 100$ for content that is fun or that bungie decides to make the Forsaken and Shadowkeep DLC free. Returning players unless you and your friends decide to play the raid nothing has changed since season of the undying where you got to shell out 10$ a season to play something new and that its still just a bounty grind. On top of that a majority of your favourite guns will become unusable because of an arbitrary cap that basically says that they are too lazy to balance old guns and perks so they decide to delete and start over.

Destiny 2 is one of the games I invested a lot of money for and it was worth it before the Beyond Light Expansion. If you are looking to return for the new DLC or a new player starting out. STAY AWAY from this game until Bungie realizes that if you want to make a Game as a service model work then you need content that is worth the price. I have paid 20$ USD for Forsaken DLC, 40$ USD for Shadowkeep and about 40$ on season passes. But now with the Beyond light Expansion 90% of what I paid for is going to be removed ("Vaulted") with the argument of reducing the games file size. Although the reasoning is logical it is Unjustified when the newer content that they put out does not fill the gap they made and that it removes content people PAID for.

Good things:
• Satisfying Looter-Shooter gameplay and abilities (The feeling of shooting your first hand cannon is so memorable)
• Amazing Soundtrack and graphics when exploring the environment and scenery
• Unique experience in Dungeons and Raids where the perfect blend of FPS and MMO mechanics create fun encounters.
• Immersive Lore and World Building in the campaign and small lore bits.
• Detailed Customization and playstyle builds.
• Cool Guns that do cool stuff.

Bad things:
• Gameplay loop becomes incredibly repetitive and monotone if you completed the campaigns and exotic quests.
• Requires a paid season pass to have fun and access new content. (the F2P players are boned in the Beyond Light Expansion)
• PvP is both fun and frustrating due to “Cheesy” builds, Broken Guns, and Cheaters.
• Recycled Content that is basically the same thing but slightly different and sometimes locked behind paywalls.
• As of season 12 and Beyond Light Expansion Lack of Content and removal of paid content is just sad and depressing (they literally removed hundreds of hours of cool quests).
• Cosmetics for players and guns are overpriced.
• Steep Entry point price if you are starting out.
• Basically, Bungie is greedy and sometimes don’t know what their vision for the game is. (Activision’s Pricing model must have rubbed off on them)

For newer players interested if you do not want to pay for the DLC's the content you can play in the game are:
• Strikes: PVE Linear Missions with 2 other players.
• Crucible: PVP Gamemodes in a lobby of 6v6 or competitive 3v3.
• Gambit: PVE Gamemode where you kill enemies as fast as possible to summon a boss without dying to other players or enemies.
• 3 Free roam locations to explore.
With the DLC you get a campaign for each one and a new free roam destination as well as Dungeons and Raids.
Dungeons and Raids are the best part of Destiny where you play it with friends to fight bosses with unique puzzles and mechanics.
And That’s it.

If you are a returning player like me who is interested in the new campaign and Stasis power unless you are aiming to play the Raid with friends the price is not worth it. Paying for around 40$ to 50$ for a campaign that is 3-5 hours long is not worth it since if you want something else to do afterwards you have to pay another 10$ for the seasonal pass to access the seasonal activities.

I would say to wait until the game is in a state where you don’t just grind Daily and Weekly Bounties for the sake of power level and that the number of fun weapons and customization is back.

Bungie should have removed old content slowly and that instead of sunsetting it’s just best to try and rework perks on the guns. I am just sad that I couldn’t play some Raids with friends that I want to introduce the game to.
