This game is super fun and super charming. The controls can be a bit wacky, and the enemy design/combat is pretty dated and can be frustrating (ambushed by hobbes, infinitely stunlocked by minions/trolls) but if you can look past those things then there's a really good game in here.

This game sucks ♥♥♥♥.

Super disappointed that I didn't vibe with what I played of this game (read: barely any). The gameplay seems really enjoyable, actually, and the eponymous bugsnax are very cute.... visually, at least. Maybe I have some special kind of brain damage, but I cannot stand the sounds that these little freaks make. You know how Pikachu makes cute sounds that give the character it's name? More specifically, you know how PIkachu makes cute sounds that sound like the creature, Pikachu, is making those sounds? Bugsnax (the creatures, and the game) do something similar. For example, Bunger (a hamburger-ish creature) constantly says "bunger bunger bunger bunger", Fryder (a french fry critter) says "fryder fryder fryder", etc. Unfortunately, every time any of the bugs made a sound, the only thing I could think was "this sounds like a person in a recording booth", and never "this sounds like a Bunger". It's just extremely grating. Straight up, the sounds these bugs make are my thirteenth reason.

Otherwise this game is probably pretty fun. The characters are also very annoying, so ya know.

Good game. There's a sequence or two that seem out of place and that take my overall enjoyment of the game down, invisible horse walking sequence, Polle centipede chase sequence, Curly intestine "puzzle" but it's nothing major. The narrative is overall solid, but there were some things that felt cheap/trite when held against the nearly unimpeachable quality of the rest of it. Also, I think that the Polle and the narrative's usage of him as some sort of visual indication/manifestation of Jimmy's trauma is uninteresting and lame.
