80 Days, the best game for IOS + Heaven's Vault, GOTY 2019 contender (2nd to Disco Elysium) = A Highland Song

This game takes the best parts of Inkle's previous works and blends them together to make something you NEED to play.

Go in blind and don't worry about a thing. And like 80 days, you'll want to replay the game and try things differently.

Switching my review to negative for two reasons.

Firstly, I really didn't like the 'pay extra to play earlier' thing they did. That's just peak capitalist/corporate greed, ♥♥♥♥ that.

Secondly, the game has some really bad gamebreaking bugs that have ruined the enjoyment for me. Enemy ships land but don't open their landing bays meaning I can't board them anymore. Vasco is perma stuck in the lodge and my goal of surveying the entire galaxy is impossible because on Masada 3 one of the faunas fails to spawn.

I was having fun but I beat the main story and these severe bugs are stopping me from enjoying the game any more. Bethesda need to fix them asap.

I love and hate this game.

I love that it's incredibly fun and massive. My first playthrough is still not finished although I'm getting close. It's DnD but you don't need to rely on other stupid humans in order to play it. Just jump straight on in. If you do have friends, playing with them is a completely different experience. It's really enjoyable. Oh and I love the music although the best song in the game isn't in the DLC soundtrack lmao.

I hate that it could be way better. 1.0 is unpolished, buggy and frustrating, especially when you get into Act 3. They cut a lot of content and rushed to cauterise the wound, leaving a mess of broken quests and missing things. I've streamed pretty much my entire playthrough on my twitch channel and a week ago I encountered the first major bug which caused me to feel awful and stop playing for a few days. Since then I've got a bug counter which I reset each stream. It reaches double digits pretty often. TotK had only one minor, funny bug in my 50+ hour casual playthrough.

The game is great but it is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ FAR from perfect. I feel like everyone is calling this a masterpiece because they've forgotten what good games are and their standards are in the dirt. It feels wrong to call this game of the year when it should've released in 2024 after months of bugfixing. Starfield could've released in 2022 and would've been buggy as ♥♥♥♥ but Bethesda actually took a year to bugfix and now the game releases in a few days, potentially less buggy than BG3 which is insane for a Bethesda game.

I do recommend BG3 despite its flaws. Maybe you'll enjoy it even more than I do.
