It's genuinely hard nowadays to find an FPS that is just completely outright original and bursting with ideas. Welp, here comes this game! I genuinely found this to be one of the most exciting and creative FPS Games in a VERY long time. It's bursting with originality and I was laughing so hard during the latter half of the game. You would think this would be extremely obnoxious and would cause eye strain and eye aching (and yes, it does cause eye aching as I can confirm from the horrible rainbow colored LiteBrite arenas you unfortunately have to fight in multiple times) and would be nothing but unfunny garbage, but there is a genuine love for 2010's meme culture and this is a throwback in the best sense possible. This could have gone wrong in so many ways. It could have been made on the insanely cheap and rushed out broken with the sorry excuse being "But that's how it's supposed to be!" but trust me, this 420BLAZEIT2 is genuinely great and I would recommend FPS fans play it if you have the patience and the physical power to do so because my god, DON'T PLAY THIS IF YOU ARE SENSITIVE TO FLASHING LIGHTS AND COLORS.

This is surreal game by all means, but this plays so well. The guns all feel tight and have weight to them like a good FPS should but what really impresses are the levels. Despite the graphics being VERY basic for a 3D Game, there's loads of variety and each section of the game is based off a certain theme with different styles being implemented such as zombie apocalypse, rail shooter, prison escape, the Willy Wonka Experience out of all things, not to mention loads of cheesy Illuminati imagery and pop ups of classic memes that I didn't find that distracting, plus there's a meter in the options menu where you can showcase the intensity of the meme pop ups. Each level is doing something new, creative, interesting and exciting and there's also tons of clever visual gags that are straight out of the parody films of old. The only game I can compare it closely to that is this creative in it's levels and ideas might be the excellent Slayers X, but even then the comedy in this is more abstract and wild than in Slayers X.

Seriously, there's few games I can compare this to. It's so unique and fresh that by the end I was shocked that I was playing something this enjoyable that's pretty much completely original. What also makes this great is that the game believes there's no such thing as dead memes and that these pieces of internet and pop culture should be celebrated for their absurdness and equal parts creativity. I know this was a sequel to a 15 Minute Joke game released a decade ago, but come on! If these guys at Normal Wholsome Games went legit, they could be creating some of the most innovative and original FPS titles on the market! It puts almost every single Boomer Shooter I've played to shame and don't get me wrong, I love games like DUSK, Slayers X, Prodeus, AMID EVIL, Cultic and I adore Doom Eternal, but when a game comes out like this that is so different and intriguing from the rest of the crowd, you just wish for more types of games like this.

This is one of the best games I've played all year without a doubt. I'm happy many people are taking this game seriously despite it's TikTok/Youtube Shorts nature because there's loads to love here. The only things I didn't really like was the flashing lights and colors in arenas at points, not to mention the story is pretty slow despite the pace being super fast gameplay wise and doesn't really pick up and get really good until you get to around Mission 9 in the Memeverse. But yeah, I loved it. 420BlazeIt2 is a Triumph and I seriously hope more FPS Devs will look at this game and learn that the design, gameplay and structure that this game has will influence them to create the best FPS Games possible. Great game. Can't recommend it enough.
