Early Access Review
EDIT 2023: Reviewing for update Ascension. The update has some pretty massive bugs and it's a bit sad to see. I haven't touched Phas since the nerf to custom and my previous review. I figured I'd give it another shot.

EDIT 2024: I'm still rather disappointed and the game feels somewhat dead as far as updates. The roadmap doesn't feel set in stone. They've been promising updates that seem to never come or at least come way too far apart for this team. I'm not sure if they've given up or are working on a secret project, but this game has been in early access for forever. Phas used to be amazing, and while I still play challenges on occassion with friends, I really hope that they don't take several more years to live up all the promises. It's been 2 years of just promising to update the character models and we are still waiting on that lone, let alone Horror 2.0. Unless they change how fast they are pushing updates, I just can't recommend it.

EDIT 2025: Still no Horror 2.0, still no updated character models. With a team as large as they have, it's just really unacceptable that it takes years to give updates they've promised would come. I will say the new farmhouse map is done beautifully, but I also wish they wouldn't just delete the old maps they do updates of, having legacy maps would be awesome too. Until I see Horror 2.0 and new character models, I just assume the Devs don't plan on delivering on their promises and my review won't change.

Pros ✔️
I really do like the new item system. It finally has a sense of achievement about the game. Having to upgrade equipment, having different appearances, the challenge is fun dealing with low level equipment and having to work around it. So bravo to tell, perfectly executed.

Cons ❌
Right now, there are some serious lag issues that are intermittent. Given that my computer can run Diablo 4 with max graphics and settings, I shouldn't be getting any lag off Phas since it's graphics aren't anything to write home about. Therefore, it leaves me to the conclusion that it's not optimized properly. Additionally, audio is messed up. You cannot interact with the ouija board (confirmed for multiple people) without your microphone needing to be set to open. Push to talk doesn't register for it, hopefully that's fixed. Also, the ghost footsteps are very quiet, way too quiet and the voice of the ghost is much louder. This makes it hard to determine ghost based off speed when there is no hiding near the ghost room. This is also a bit nitpicky but I wish our previous level badges on our arms were much larger. They are nearly impossible to see and a lot of us prided ourselves on our level before the wipe. I'm hoping these bugs are fixed, but honestly, the cons overshadow the positives at the moment.

Original Review:
I have to leave a negative review on this game, unfortunately, after 430 hours of playing. I played this game every night for months. It was where I met many friends, who also played just as much as I have and we were all super passionate about Phasmophobia. But today, after watching a Dev (CJ) mock their hardcore players in the Discord, I just can't support where this game is going.

They released a HUGE update with a very hyped Custom difficulty, which allowed players to amp up the difficulty or even make the game easier than their low level difficulties. They have today nerfed Custom into the ground, giving an 80% reduction of rewards because "it's not fair" because more of their player base choose to play on Intermediate. By no means was Custom unfair or stopping players from playing, earning money, and enjoying the game. In fact, it made the game alive again for their hardcore players.

I am so, so disappointed in reading the comment from the Dev. CJ, your 1% are the players that come back to the game every night, not the players who play for 2 hours a month or forget the game totally. To basically say "screw you, we're removing Custom because the majority of our player base don't run it and we don't care if you're upset because you're the 1%." Well, the casuals still had a perfectly viable way to play but you make the game miserable for those who wanted a challenge with a fitting reward for the effort.

There is basically 0 reward for Custom now, since even the easier game mode gives a higher reward than difficulties 10x harder. DO NOT buy this game, not if this is the path they will be taking, and even more so because since the 1% don't contribute to most of their paychecks, I guess we no longer matter. The large amount of players I'm friends with, hold these exact same feelings as me and it's such a shame to see them run this great game into the ground.

❌❌❌ I have good things to say about the update but honestly, it's all overshadowed by this one GLARING design MISTAKE. As of the most recent update, official PvE is now only 2 castles per 4 man clan. Whoever made this decision should be fired. Half of end-game is building in PvE, so now 2 people in the clan get totally screwed over.

❌❌❌ What makes this worse is the fact that you can't party up to see where each other are and to avoid friendly fire, so if we wanted to split to fix this issue, there'd be another massive issue.

❌❌❌It's also a waste of buying the cosmetic packs if you can't build your own castle. Terrible game design choice, terrible $$$ bottom line choice, terrible choice PERIOD.

To make this worse. I made this suggestion in the feedback section of the Discord, and one of their mods Nero just suggests to "fix" this issue is to buy your own private server or join some random persons private server (which can be taken down without notice), which essentially needing to distance yourself from the official community just to have your own castle while playing with friends. This is a joke Stunlock, absolute joke.

Fix it and make it 4 again. It's bad enough you reduced it from 2 per person to 1, but this is ridiculous. Not changing this review until this awful change gets reverted. Each person in PvE should be able to have their own castle and not be severely punished for having friends!

Honestly, I love this game so much. From the start, it's beautiful. It might not be insanely realistic but the colors and quality of the graphics are so rich and vibrant. I genuinely love just being present in game. I also love the puzzles; yes, some of them are harder but they are all doable. If you enjoy working your mind while exploring this is going to be a great game for you. I hope they come out with more like this, I would absolutely be a loyal fan to this franchise.

I have been around horses irl all my life and I honestly love this game. I used to play the original Riding Star when I was a kid and as an adult, I wanted a bit of nostalgia. Thanks to playing the MMO Black Desert Online though, I've learned I really enjoy breeding horses in game as well. So when I found this game and breeding was an option, I had to get it. There are a few things I'd change as far as the first field. I wish the golden shoes were trackable so I knew how many were left, I wish there were more jumps in the field. The only other thing that would put the icing on the cake is better graphics, but considering the graphics are aged, the little details that make this game accurate make it worth it.

This game is a huge headache honestly. It's super impossible to play with friends. It keeps saying there are firewall issues for both of us. We have all rules allowed in the firewall, nothing is blocked, we have each other added, and theres 0 options to join through the steam friends list and in-game "Join" isn't an option, and when it is, it disconnects one of us when we try to play with each other. Huge waste of money. This game clearly isn't tended to, according to Google, this issue has been a problem for over 6 years and it's STILL. NOT. FIXED.

This is an amazing game. It makes you think deeply about your own life and actions. It's not long, but it's got dimension and they have done an amazing job.

House Flipper is amazing. It's one of those games that I can come to and relax. It's satisfying to clean and see my before and afters. I enjoy the achievements. It's one of those games that I will definitely be getting all the DLCs for.

There are a couple minor bugs here and there, like placing a bathtub or shower in a tiny bathroom, sometimes you can't install it because you can't click through a wall, or the same when installing a swingset next to a fence. Not game breaking.

Highly recommend!

So much better than expected. This game is so detailed. A bit of a learning curve, but I appreciate all the little aspects that went into this game to give it depth and immersion. Can't wait to play even more.
