To start, if I had to describe this game, it's a lovechild between Division 2 (gameplay) and Destiny 2 (visuals). If you love either of those games, definitely give it a try.

I actually really really love this game so far, we played several hours the first day. I played Destiny 2 with my husband when we first met, but due to the state of that game we haven't played in years but I'm so happy we found this to play because it feels nostalgic even though it's a new game to us. This game reminds me a ton of Division 2, especially when it comes to game play, which we also absolutely loved. I'm not a huge fan of battle passes but at the same time, the devs need to make money somehow and their cosmetics definitely are beautiful. I do wish there was more in the way of free battle pass perks but it is what it is.

As a diehard Left4Dead fan, I didn't buy this game on release, but 2 years later. The reviews kind of deterred me away from it as I'm sure it did for other people, but it went on sale so I said screw it, I'm gonna get it. I'm REALLY happy I did. I even decided to get the annual pass as well after the first day because I can see myself playing this game a lot.

Back4Blood is packed full of action, it can get intense. I've been playing it with friends and my husband, and we've been enjoying the hell out of the game. Basically played it all night the first night. It feels somewhat familiar like Left4Dead, but it plays like a more polished and modern game. The FEEL is L4D as is the core premise, but the mechanics are a different game all together.

The class system is really fun to mess around with, as are the cards and cosmetics. You can modify weapons, modify perks. There's more depth to this game than just logging in, hopping into a match and just going. There's a feeling of progression and there's definitely a higher sense of achievement for completing missions.

The graphics are beautiful, and there are lots of things to admire about the game looks. The zombies are creepy and badass looking, the characters are awesome. I really like the custom weapon skins and changing up my characters appearance.

I like that there are hives you can jump into during a campaign. So it's not just the same old campaign over and over and just switching difficulties. You can choose to take on a bunch of difficult modifiers and hop into a hive. The feeling of communication and teamwork is really important in B4B too.

I will certainly get my monies worth out of this game. I really like where they went with it and it makes me sad it got the hate that it did. It's actually really fun and well done game. The only negative I have to say so far, is it would be awesome if there was mod support or at least player made campaigns, but maybe some day.

PROS:
✔️ The game is good and fun, especially with friends. I've played the hell out of it with friends and it's enjoyable while it lasts until you complete all achievements. It's got some beautiful atmospheric levels

CONS:
❌ Most of the achievements are locked to single player instead of doing the levels in general, which I find annoying. I've complete the game several times with friends and I don't have as much fun alone, but to 100% the game you are forced to play through it all alone.

❌ Avoid the game's Discord, it's so unbelievably toxic. They have, what I could only assume are kids, running around insulting, cussing out, absolutely everyone and everything and the mods simply give warnings. There's about 63,000+ members of the discord, and only 2 active moderators that I can see on a regular basis. People jump into chat channels trolling with obnoxious soundboards and you can't even tag mods if there's an issue. If you try to get a mods attention, all the kiddos jump in and tell you to stfu. I want to stay so I can be on top of updates for this game, but I genuinely hate even being there. Harassment is a huge problem and it's just riddled with tons of immaturity. All this is a reflection on the devs to have the community representation of the game be this bad, and it's just really offputting.

Well, all the negative reviews are accurate. Signed up, can't even log in. Changed password, tried again, still can't log in. Closed game, restarted, double checked password, tried to sign in, login still fails. Fix your crap. This is basic and shouldn't be completely broken.

Game is convoluted. Hard to find teammates if they don't communicate. Throws you entirely back to the beginning if you die and separates everyone. It's just a total mess.

As someone who was part of the development team, I'm going to give my honest review with the goods and the bads as someone who has been around this game since release. I have all the popular ghost hunting games out (except for Ghost Watchers which I returned) and honestly this one is fun when you're looking for a serious challenge.

Pros:
✔️ It's so unique to this genre and is done so well for being created by a single developer.
✔️ Always something new to learn. He's put so many little details in places you'd never expect.
✔️ Having guns to destroy the ghost is such an awesome mechanic and honestly reminds me so much of the show Supernatural.
✔️ Bullets infused with salt/silver/iron/etc. is so clever and makes the "exorcism" process extremely fun.
✔️ The game truly gets intense, sometimes you have to craft your bullets while the ghost is hunting. This game on harder difficulties will get your adrenaline pumping.
✔️ No more having to worry about being able to afford equipment, all equipment is provided.
✔️ There is reputation in this game, as well as upgrades, so it gives you a sense of achievement and you have something to work for.

Cons:
❌ It is a 3 player game unlike all the other games in the genre, so if you usually run into a group of 4, you'll need to split into 2 groups. (looks like this may have changed to 4 but everyone has quit so I don't have friends to test this)
❌ Steep initial learning curve, but that's not really a con for me personally, but could be for others.
❌ The game has gotten severely more difficult since release, to the point of being punishing on the hardest difficulty. For me, I get more stressed by playing than having fun due to those changes.
❌ The ghost progresses with activity way too quickly in multiplayer on difficulties other than easy, which could lead to group tension.
❌The game is very focused around the French community and French community alone. The growth of it has dropped off which is sad because it started out really strong. It does not have a big player base anymore and the discord is really inactive.

My only suggestion for new players is to take it slow and learn the game and how to manage activity before jumping into higher difficulties, because vengeful ghosts can be no joke.

My friend and I have created a super detailed guide for This Is A Ghost if anyone needs some guidance on the game.

I absolutely love this game. First off, it's beautiful. I could just spend time looking at all the little details on the items, the lighting is really nice, I love everything about this game visually. As far as game play, the puzzles are very clever but aren't so difficult they become frustrating. There's a perfect amount of logic and thinking involved which make progressing rewarding. The music is also nice. I love watching this game unfold. Definitely recommend.

Refunding. I play Phas and Ghost Exile, and this just isn't it. There isn't hunting like I'm used to, even from the start, these ghosts just spawn, make a little noise that is basically coming from anywhere so you may just run into it while it's invisible, and you die. There isn't hiding inside, as other comments have said, it seems to encourage door camping and just doing objectives from the door. Frustrating, cheesy scares and just feels like it's really missing something.

Oh, and don't let me forget those b00bs physics. Immersion breaking much? lol. I'm one who likes to have pretty (and sexy) looking characters to play. But, as a female, I'm pretty sure my b00bs don't move in 2 different directions just because I'm breathing. Not sure what's wrong with the girls in game but, they might need a doctor.

Fun if you have friends. Worth the price for sure and I would recommend it. I've completed all achievements and endings. Definitely creepy moments for sure. Hate being stalked by smiley. haha

HUGE Con though... If someone dc's, they actually can't get back in the game. Considering these games can take several hours, that's pretty crappy that that's an issue that can happen. Spent 3 hours in game, one of our friends dc'd, he lost his event reward and couldn't get back into our game, so keep that in mind. At least you can start back up on certain chapters.

Awesome game so far. My whole group of friends came from Phasmo (10+ of us). I have 400+ hours and am lvl 4000 in that game, and so far, I feel like this game is better. It feels like a lovechild between Phas and Ghost Watchers. It has ghost identification, instead of just leaving after you figure it out, you can actually choose to exercise the ghost as well, which is a really exciting process. Not to mention there is a labyrinth you can escape if you die so the ghost doesn't get your soul, no more days of being bored after death. As well as other extra content you can enable for missions to make them more unique and interesting.

The characters also look really good and you can finally customize them too. Overall, we're super pleased with our choice by far. The jump scares are also really good without being over the top, we're always a little on edge even after being lvl 4000+ in Phas, where I didn't think it would be easy to get scared in a game anymore. We haven't even scratched the surface in Ghost Exile and it seems like a game that already is really interesting and has tons of potential.
