I like the themes and characters. But I miss the Shogun 2 map design. All maps in this game are basically the same, 1 wall and a couple gates. Whereas in Shogun 2 you had multiple layers of walls, and height and buildings and gates all over the place.

Maybe the big faction captials will have some variation as I haven't got there yet. But I know for a fact everything else is the same. And it makes the game feel repetitive after a while.

That's my only complaint, I am really enjoying this game.

One of the most fun, engaging and rewarding games I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing.

Up to this point I'd never played a dark souls game before and I got this game just after launch after watching how good it looked in all the youtube videos. And I don't even have a controller to play it with despite many of my hardcore Dark Souls friends reccomending it, but I still managed 3 full playthroughs without any issues what-so-ever, the controls were great just with keyboard and mouse.

After some years you get enjoyment out of just dominating the waves in Last Stand. You VERY quickly get the most powerful weapons in the game. By level 7 you have the best melee weapon in the game with unbreakable armor and insane health.

I love him.

FYI SEGA, I'd pay money for the Tau and Necrons in DOW2: Retribution.

Buy this game for the campaign alone. Otherwise buy Forged Alliance. It includes all the factions of the vanilla game with a cool new campaign and a new faction. As well as balancing.

Early Access Review
I did have a postive review on this game. But I've grown inpatient. This game is going nowhere, it's getting no content added and the very rare content update throws the game in the wrong direction every single time.

Early Access Review
Really well put together, polished and funtional game for an early access. Interesting and engaging classes for both vampires and humans, and I can promise that you will immediatly be grapped by a class and hooked.

Now I have to say, this is not noob friendly. If you play this game with no clue or research then you will be having a bad time, and causing 3 other people to have a bad time too. All I'm saying is, do some research, check out all classes and find one that you like. It took me an hour to get to level 5 and unlock my first class, I should also say, hold off on those class purchases, seriously. You gain XP so fast and before you know it you will have 2 class tokens and smelling that third. And you should spend those levels playing the eaiser classes anyway, learning the game and understanding how to work with your team. And consider the rewards of spending those levels with the simple classes (you may prefer anyway) as more complex classes. And also, do the tutorials, every class has a unique tutorial explaining it's special and uniqe abilites. And it will give you a good item in return for 7 days.

I seriously enjoy this game, plays like a MOBA but you don't feel so abused or have so much responsibility. And the teams you get will be generally filled with some pretty nice people.

8.5/10

Not a bad game, deffinetly worth a try - I highly reccomend. Takes allot from the orignal Company Of Heroes (which I adorded). I assumed I would need HL2, but even for a free game it's not required; which is amazing.

I got a few great hours of gameplay, but I feel the game takes too much from Company Of Heroes tactical gameplay and territory control and then mixes it with Starcraft factions (for combine anyway), which mixes a wierd Protoss playstyle for combine and a cassual, slow start for the rebels. I can't tell if combine are just all-around better or the game is keeping too true to the half-life universe, it should be a equal playing field for both factions. The combine mid and late game is just far too powerful (which I honestly love, I just wish another faction was implemented and rebels buffed so it was even).

I believe for this game to be really enjoyable it needs to take the full set of tactical thinking from Company Of Heroes, by that I mean a possible ability-tree. The combine have a headcrab missile which has around 1/4 of the map in range, which is exactly what this games needs to finish stalemate battles when two teams become locked in. Expect instead of a building maybe like I said an ability-tree, I would also like to see actual air units. Like combine transports - at least in the ability-tree, like the pelican trasnport system in Halo: Wars on the xbox 360. And of course the same for the rebals in their own forms. Or maybe even man-made tunnels and map manipulation to get a geological advantage against the oppisition.

I do reccomend this game, and I compare it to Company of Heroes because of its territory and resource system. But for all I know the developers don't even intend to make it this alike, they may even be trying for a Warhammer - 40,000: Dawn of War 2 style. Or maybe they intend for it to be more original than I seem to be seeing it. But it IS BETA, I forgive games for lacking in faction balance, and I all-around believe this can be one great game. Highly reccomend.
