This game C A N be fun, but it just ends up not being fun unfortunately.

The reason why I have so many hours is back when DayZ started after the mod, it was playable, and could be alright every now and again.

When it is fun is after you meet up with your friends, which brings me back to why I have so many hours.

Most of this game is trying to meet up with your friends, you spend hours upon hours trying to meet up with them. You don't have the option to spawn close to them either [unless you try to die and respawn, and die and respawn immediately. But even that is not a guarantee]. There's no way to choose a spawn area.
This makes the game less fun. Constantly on the verge of dying due to hunger in the beginning, having to run for hours just trying to get to someone isn't great or good, and I think this should be improved.

Dying doesn't just suck because you lose stuff, dying mainly sucks because of what is mentioned above.

After meeting up with your friends, after hours of searching, you then slowly build up again. For my friends and I we usually die to other players right when we get okay or good gear. Then it all starts over again.

DayZ had gotten bad for a while, zombies were glitchy or didn't exist, items didn't spawn often. But then that seems to have been fixed years later. This part of the game is probably alright now.

Only two days ago I had 75 hours, now I have 97, which about 40 mins actually being with friends before dying. Similar experiences prior.

We're not pros, and might die easily, and that's probably a factor. But not super part of my frustration. I love rogue-like games, this sort of fits that bill. I love building your characters up, and the chances you can take. I like learning little meta things.

There's just that one main aspect that makes the game teeth grindingly frustrating, and I just don't think I can stand to try it anymore.

If this is ever resolved, I think it would be a great game.

Edit: After reading other reviews I'm going to look into PvE or Mods to see if that's any better, but I have extremely low expectations.
