Play games with trading card drops, half of the cards needed to form the badge drop while playing that game (some may be duplicates), combine all unique cards for a badge, get experience when you get a badge (can get multiple of the same badges), earn coupons/ emoticons/ extend friend list/ backgrounds/ profile pictures/ etc., foil cards are rare and can make foil badges, you can sell/trade cards on market/through steam, and that's it for now. There's a steam group and a trading subreddit.
