Ok. So. I decided to try this out since it was Free to Play for a couple days and.. it was touch and go there. I will say this now; I did not buy the game at the time of this review.

It took me 2 hours to get it to run because Easy Anti-Cheat didn't want to launch with BF2042. It launched fine with Gundam Evo, so I did what the internet suggested; reinstalled it from the Game Folder. Didn't work, so I just verified integrity of the game, it redownloaded, and it finally launches.

Skip the tutorial mission they throw you into because I just wanted to get to the main menu to change the Display settings.
Did that, changed the FOV (don't do this ever) and it worked for a game or so. Then it crashes, saying my *gpu was removed from the system.* So that was a thing.

Relaunched the game, it won't even start. Once again, verify integrity, game works again.

Playing a match, get an error; connection to server lost because the EA App *crashed randomly*.

So again, relaunch the game (because the app crashing causes the game to crash) and play a few rounds. Get the GPU crash error again. Turns out, if you put your FOV *above 65* you have a high chance of crashing your system. I like to play at 90, so that's an issue. Change it back to 60 and I've not had the crash since.

Now, with all of that out of the way, what did I think of the game? Honestly... I enjoyed the time I played it. The guns are varied and unlocking the attachments and earning the BP items and new weapons as you level is pretty great. Each weapon is viable and had a good feel to it, from the AR to Shotguns to Snipers to even the sidearms. Love the G57. Maps are huge, which is par for the course from BF games. Vehicles feel.. actually a bit better to use, depending on the vehicle.

Specialists. They're ok. I honestly don't use their abilities much, but I've also only used like 3 of them. I do like how each class can use any weapons and tools, it's like RussianBadger said; More freedom, less identity.

Overall, would I recommend this game? Yes, but only if it's on sale. Do not buy this game for full price. In fact, if this game was F2P with the store and BP I would definitely recommend this.

Because of the bugs, the crashes, the issues with the EA App, and the poor optimization, DO NOT BUY FULL PRICE. Honestly, if they got rid of the mandatory EA App connection then it would fix half the issues of this game. Also, never change your FOV. Leave it at 60.
