This game used to be fun.

But seriously this is great. Jamming is a full time job in the back seat but let's say you don't want to roll with a jammer and just want to be a Super Tomcat. Well that back seat is still useful. Take over radar management and keep the bad guys in the radar's view while the pilot steers and shoots. Still a lot of fun. Or how about doing recon for other units? Marking GPS targets for allies or yourselves to drop an entire payload of JDAMs and hit dozens of targets all at once in a display of shock and awe not seen since the Gulf War.

Simply put, this DLC is awesome.

A helicopter is an aviation abomination with all of the flight surfaces moving the wrong way.

Very hard to fly, but being the gunner with a competent pilot is bliss.

This game is just complicated enough to immerse you while still being forgiving enough to give an experience that doesn't cruelly punish its players. The fictional nature of the aircraft also unbinds them from the realities of real world ability dictating game balance. Realism isn't always fun, but when you feel like it's real, that's all that matters. The performance is superb most of the time because the game uses a minimalist style for its graphics, and I believe this seriously affects performance.

I'd rather play this over DCS. Its only flaw is I wish there were more aircraft to choose from, and the mission editor leaves much to be desired. All in time, I hope. The game is being developed by just one person. The current state of the game is absolutely worth the buy in.

Mind you, the base game's campaigns are somewhat lackluster. There's plenty of community content however, and I love the fact that you can fly with your own aircraft skins and have them seen by other players so long as the game host allows it. Speaking of which, adding multiplayer to this game was the deciding factor that made me buy it. Had this been a single player game, I would not have dumped a hundred hours into flying over such a short time span. I play this game until my face hurts from wearing the headset, and the batteries in my controllers are dead!

I'm only giving this a very tentative negative because for what this aircraft is meant to do, it does that well. This aircraft is fantastic for teaching your friends how to play the game. That's how I learned to play the game.

But once that's done, there's no point in ever touching the aircraft again except to gimp yourself for a challenge.

The T-55 is considerably worse in every way compared to every other aircraft. There's also no benefit to having a co-pilot in the back seat. You're only going to fly this plane because there's no other slots in the lobby, and you're going to find yourself not having fun because all the better planes will clear the objectives first. Furthermore, because there is no advantage to having a person in the back seat, they only get in the way. Therefore you find this plane in lobbies that seem to be open, have a T-55 slot with a pilot already, and when you try to join them they refuse everyone who attempts to.

Maybe it's fun to prove you're so great at the game that you can fly this piece of junk and still keep up with the other planes. But deep down you're just malding because you don't get to fly something that's actually fun.

Until the T-55's handling is changed to give it a more fun gimmick, maybe give it a better thrust-to-weight ratio to make up for its lack of weapons, I cannot recommend spending money on this. I know it's just $7, but consider what other DLCs are available. This one is just a waste of money unless you're also buying copies of this game for friends and you want to train them how to fly.

Also the T-55 campaign is infuriatingly bad and not fun for reasons of bad design. The first missions require you just to fly in formation. That wouldn't be awful if you didn't have to go full afterburner and dump all weapons just to have a slim chance of keeping up before you can even do the fun missions.

Total waste of money. You get absolutely nothing worth paying for in this DLC.

"Ace, how can you play two hours of a game and say you had no fun? You're not even giving it a fair chance."

Okay.

"Ace, how can you play over a hundred hours of a game and claim you had no fun? You're a liar."

I'll never win.

So adding in EAC was an overwhelmingly bad idea. Completely unnecessary might I add. I hope the developers realize how stupid it was to do this, because if they don't, they're going to wind up with a very dead game.
